On October 1, low cost carrier AirAsia will move its entire operaton from BKK to DMK. Apparently all LCC will be making DMK their new home in the coming months. Just received my re-issue of my e-tickets from FD.

sfo,

I took the liberty of editing your title so it's a little more informative.

This has already been discussed in Other Asian, Australian and South Pacific Frequent Flyer Programs (Other Asian, Australian and South Pacific Frequent Flyer Programs) and/or Thailand forum - we seem to have AirAsia posts in both BT and Other Asian carriers. There's also a thread on getting from one airport to another, as Thai Gov't gave incentives to LCCs to move their operation to Don Muang after they cleaned up after the floods. ASAIK all majors still fly into BKK (not going to try to spell Suwa....), so those continuing with LCCs may find this interesting discussion as the two airports are rather far apart, and Bangkok traffic can be quite horrible.

Thanks for the clean up. Yes, I think there are to be about 17 LCC when all is said and done. Apparently one South Korean LCC is not happy at all and says things at this point are not working out nicely, too few security and only a couple of customs/immigration officers, AirAsia on their website is trying to arrange a free bus transfer between the two airports for their passengers. There is a bus going between the two, takes about 45 minutes. I think the only ones that need to worry at this point are passengers that are making connections either to a LCC from a major carrier or visa versa, could be problems with connecting times. Hopefully all will work out and using this airport will be a pleasant experience down the road.
