Hello everyone!

For anyone who travelled with economy ticket on Lufthansa while being a *G checking in at their F counters (mainly German airports I guess), how are Lufthansa's F check-in agents' attitude towards that? Of course I know it should not a problem at all, but it feels so intimidating... I guess lol. Main problem is because I am quite and look young, it is so awkward. Please don't say to buy a F ticket, for obvious reasons :D Anyways, experiences much appreciated!

the agents are never the problem IMHO, the clowns who guard the line are sometimes. they usually only ask if you're flying F/C class and then just try to deny entry when you say no. i usually just ignore them and walk up to a desk, they annoy the hell out of me... but its not a real problem!

Agree! I usually say yes if they ask me if I'm in C/F. If they ask to see reservation I tell them that it's an e-ticket without printed confirmation. Then they look like this :eek::mad: and I walk up to the check in.

Regarding the chek in agents, yes. Very friendly to *G in Y.

I've never had a problem. I just reply "Star Gold" rather than yes or no when the line guards ask.

I've never had a problem with the line minders and telling them *G. I'm glad they they're, actually, as otherwise there would be epic line jumping and all sort of shenanigans. In July at CDG there was a line going out of the barriers and wrapping back around for both business and economy. Meanwhile I walked right to a waiting agent who greeting me with a smile and even let my kids come around and push the button to send the luggage down the conveyor belt.

I have never had a problem with the gate keepers guards as a *Gold but I have had problems with others paxs. I had a couple of 'em blocking the 1K check-in machine line in LHR and I asked them to move. Of course they gave me they "how dare you look" and I asked them if they were 1K and of course they were oblivious.

The only problems I've had are the sometimes rude SAS agents manning the *G/DYKWIA desk. Usually they refuse to greet me as I hand them my passport, but as *G shows up on their screen they instantly turn friendly. I suppose that's for good reason since I've seen far too many non-C/*G pax use those counters at ARN, and not to speak of the idiots who push the *G button at the ticket desk despite not being entitled to it. And I've also been told about this seemingly common issue by SAS staff.

I never had a problem with them. I just reply I'm a SEN, they smile and let me pass. A bit of respect may well make a difference.

I regard them as doing everyone a service. It's better to be told that you are not eligible before waiting in line for 10 minutes, and it's better for everyone who's eligible not to have people discuss with the check-in agent about the eligibility after having waited in line for 10 minutes...

I think this is one of the nicest features of LH - that they actually put some design and investment into the Star Gold check in to make it more exclusive.

They could always design it a different way, so you should feel most welcome.

respect is what i expect from them in the first place, letting the suite type in front of me thru without a question, but trying to stop me (80% of the time) doesn't get them respect, sorry. they usually get very apologetic when they see the black card, but its too late then...

Exactly what normally happens... Some underpaid clown who is trying to have some authority over people and is making judgement calls who to ask. Really annoys the hell out of me. And they keep multiplying at airports....

I don't understand what you expect them to do. Of course they stop you because they are supposed to verify that you are eligible for that line. Since you know that you could simply tell them that you are a HON when you are approaching them... Problem solved. I never had to show my card.

you didn't get my point, i get annoyed when they stop me but don't stop the important business type in a suit just in front of me. when they stop with the "profiling" at premium check in lines, i'll stop and am happy to talk to them...

Never had a problem, just tell them you are *G and that's it. In my opinion it is totally fine that they ask everybody in order to keept the queues short and only for those that are entitled to it. Otherwise too many people will just try their luck on your costs

I just flash my gold card and they wave me through. This has been the case for me at FRA, NUE, and MUC.

BTW, I use this whenever I fly other airlines/alliances where I'm not any form of elite. Since the ushers usually have no clue what the gold card is supposed to look like, any gold card will do. For kicks I even tried my regus gold card last year :p

I am a bit ashamed to admit I have done that on 2 or 3 time tight agendas for checkin at Shanghai and Ningbo when there are massive queues and a bored looking agent at the "First Class" checkin area. The card that seems to pull the most weight for whatever reason is my Marriott Rewards gold card- works every time with any airline it seems (unlike my LH card which has been "bounced" a few times at Air China checkin because "it is not a gold coloured card" :)).

This is quite common indeed, even to EBGs.

A bit off-topic, but since we are in the rant mode alread :) I have been multiple times refused business check-in in CPH by SK handling agents, being FTL on LH and LO departures (this is a MM benefit). I regularly file complaints to MM, and got a few thousand miles of compensation for the humilating disappointments and unfirendly discussions with check in agents. Yet, this still happened. Only when I became EBG the problem ceased, as they actually know and believe that *G are entitled to business check in.

when they see me with my 5 pcs of luggage, they know i cant be flying in economy :p

@sentom, in the summertimes, i usually fly with flipflops, even then i never had a problem with the guardians. a friendly, i am HON, SEN, *G which takes 1 second will do the trick.

i love the idea with showing any cards to the agents, i will show them my starbucks card next time, and will report how that worked out.
