Mileage Run Discussion - DL Mileage run...now or wait?

I am 4,900 miles short of GM. I have already leveraged MQM bonuses thru the Delta Credit Card. I have read where there have been MQM flying bonuses towards the end of the year. My question is....am I better off waiting to do a MR till November or December in hopes of one of these bonuses or try to knock out a MR now? I am MCO based.

If you see a good mileage run, do it now.

If you see something fantastic later in the year, you can still go for it. Any extra miles above GM will just roll over and give you a head start next year.

If you have a more limited budget, my experience over the years is that I often get the best deals November, December, January, or February. So if the reality is that you will do only one run it might be worth holding out until later in the year. Good luck.

to the OP: I appreciate your thoughtfulness on this but not even sure why it's a question. Respectfully, but if you hit GM sooner, then you start enjoying the benefits sooner so why not hit GM now and you'll be GM until Feb '14. if you hit GM in Decemeber you'll still be GM till Feb '14 so why not do the MR now -- assuming there's a fare out there in your budget -- and then just reap the rewards. Just sayin'........... and BTW, remember you can do something on Alaska Air bird too and it'll earn you DL miles. Not sure if Alaska serves MCO yet, though?

If you find a good MR (say 5cpm or less) book it now and be done with it. Worse case scenarios is an AMEX MQM bonus at year end will roll over into 2013 for next year's status.

And if you decide to make a run soon....look at SJU (San Juan,PR)....it provides a good run out of MCO on DL....SJU has been (and continues to be) a popular MR spot this year....
