United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - A new record - flight cancelled ~10 min after booking

Against my better judgement, just booked 3 seats EWR-MSP on the 8pm flight tonight due to a family emergency...timing better than the AA option. Just after booked & ticketed, I look at my res and see I'm now on the 8am flight tomorrow instead. ...? You guessed it, cancellation - "operations". Guessing another crew shortage, same thing happened to me last week.

So the $3K will instead go to AA. Just gets a jump start on my AA flying as I was already booked on them next week.

Data for yesterday:

- UA cancelled 34 flights and had 62% on-time
- AA cancelled 34 flights and had 69% on-time

Looks like comparable odds on both airlines, taking that 1 day as the snapshot.

1stly 3+ hrs on an RJ are you ____!?

Id rather fly DL on a mainliner

Dont know if its a crew thing or the storms they are expecting to hit the NY area tonight. Had it been a mainline wonder if it would have been CXed if its due to WX

E70 in row 3 is great on short notice! This is personal - for work, I rely on DL to get me there when UA inevitably delays or cancels ;)

FWIW, the "storm" is plowing through Pittsburgh and viewing outside of the window of my office, the storm is an utter joke.

Just think of a cloudy day [the clouds are not even that low] with sprinkling rain.

I hate the weather newstations, they tend to over-exaggerate the forecast. After all, the more dramatic it is the more viewership they get
