Hello,

I have booked AMS-ZRH via CGD. I land at CDG 2F on Sunday at 19.00 and should leave at 20.00 from 2G. When I booked, I did not notice that I needed to change terminal.

I am a bit concerned about the short connecting time. Indeed according to the customer guide of CDG (http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Professionnals/Home/CustomerguideCDG2012.htm) the MCT for 2F->2G is 120 minutes.

I called KLM to ask if I could be rebooked on a different flight (e.g. a direct one), for fear of missing my connection and being stranded in paris for the night (it is the last flight of the day). I have been told that the MCT is 45 minutes according to KLM, so that they will change my booking. They also will rebook me only in case of delay exceeding 15 min.

So here I ask: how is it possible that KLM and CDG have two very different MCT, and which one should I take into account? (direct experience is welcome)

What would you advise me to do, to be sure to get to ZRH on sunday evening?

Quick update: I called AF as well, they gave me the exact same answer.

The MCT is established by each airline. The MCT on AFKL in CDG for your connection is indeed 45 min. The airport site can make some suggestion to allow plenty of time to transfer but this is not an official MCT used by AFKL. Of course, a flight can always be delayed by an hour or more, but your connection seems fine.

To be sure to be in ZRH on sunday evening, you should buy a direct AMS-ZRH and hope that it is not canceled. Better even to book a mid-afternoon flight to further increase probability.

You Need 30 minutes door to door for 2F-2G, if you Run maybe somewhat less. MCT of 45 min seems correct, but very tight.

At the moment (not for long) there are two sub parts of terminal F, one which handles Schengen flights like yours, and one which handles non-Schengen flights. MCT is typically different from domestic -> domestic (in our case, Schengen-> Schengen), international -> domestic/Schengen (which would have required you to complete immigration procedures), intl -> intl and Schengen -> intl. I suspect that what ADP recommended would have been (1) a recommendation (as mentioned by brunos, airlines make their own decision) and (2) for arrivals into intl F going to 2G. 1 hour from the Schengen part of 2F to 2G is certainly not plenty, but it is definitely feasible if your first flight arrives on time. I would agree it should be doable even with a 15 minutes delay and possibly more (running) but from 30 minutes delay you most probably will miss your flight unless the following flight is delayed too.
