I found available award flights for NH KIX-HKG on the ana site but I cannot find the award on united.com. Is this not a bookable award using UA miles?

It should be bookable in general using UA points. That said, when looking for NH inventory on the NH site there's a chance what you're getting is the inventory for their own members, not for partners. I'd check the AC or AV/TA site to see if they also show the same inventory before concluding that something is busted in the UA system.

You'll probably have to call United reservations. Not everything appears on united.com.

In my recent experience, you can't see NH awards on the UA site unless they are part of a multi-segment itinerary. So if you search KIX-HKG you will only see connecting flights, while if you search, say, HND-HKG you will probably be shown a connection on ANA through KIX (but then UA will not let you click through to book it).

If the process is similar for booking a flight using UA miles to using UA Miles to upgrade on ANA, then you will have to call into United to speak to a representative. They will have to use their system to send a request over to ANA. I remember calling United everyday to see if an upgrade was available on an ANA flight. That was a pain...

I am able to see SFO-NRT on NH007 in a multi-route search so some NH flights are showing, but just not KIX-HKG (nor NRT-HKG) ...

Are these no redeemable w/ UA miles?

Like I said, NH flights will show up as part of an itinerary, just not on their own. For example I can see the following when searching for KIX-BKK:

It is just a bug with either UA's system or NH's system. (I'm tempted to blame UA but honestly can't say who's at fault here)

They are redeemable - you have to pick up the phone and call UA (and pay the fee).
