Wife and I just finished the last leg of our Asia trip... and flew CX F from HGK back to LAX.

Wow. What an amazing experience it was. Everything I read about the superior service was true, and exceeded even my already high expectations.

Check in was easy breezy at HKG, no one else at the F counters. Going through security, no F line which I already knew... but the line was only 10 mins long anyhow, so it didnt matter much. We had time to visit both the Pier and Wing lounges. both were good, comfortable, roomy, not too crowded. Good selection of food and drinks at both lounges.

So only 3 of us in the F cabin on CX 880. So we pretty much had full attention of the cabin crew. Meals were delish... and I had plenty of Blue Label and Macallan Fine Oak 17... now thats what I call selection. In the morning I enjoyed hot chocolate with Baileys Irish Cream (seriously, if you've never had this... you are missing out!).

All of that was nice and dandy, but the most important thing, considering I needed to be at work 7am Pacific Time the next day was the seat.... and My God, it is, hands down, the best airplane seat I've ever experienced. Now considering I've never flown F before (only J via various airlines), I dont have a great reference point... but whatever. Ultra comfortable with the mattress topper (and probably even without it). I slept like a baby. The Shanghai Tang PJ's were fabulous... so fabulous that I went through Customs and Immigration at LAX still wearing them (and the slippers!) to the dismay of my wife.

So glad I took recommendations from everyone to go ahead and splurge using miles and get F tickets instead of J. Thank you !!

Great reaction to an awesome product! I, too, love CX F. We flew CX SFO-HKG F in June, so front loaded our trip with the best F product. It made it hard for the other carriers to compete. You did it well to make it the end of your trip. I've flown CX F many times now, and it is still aspirational travel. I don't grow weary of it.

Have a trip in F coming up soon. Trying to decide what lounge to spend most of my time in. Any recommendations?

Which city? HKG? or another location? If you are referring to HKG, the Construction at the Wing is a bummer, but its proximity to almost all the US departures (gates 1-4) is convenient.....I actually like the Pier....but you are now out at the 60 gates and can take the train there, but to come back to the US gates or the Wing will require you to walk.

I think the Wing is still solid though and would go with wherever your departure gate is at. if you want to "lounge hop" the Qantas lounge gets fairly good reviews as well....YMMV....

I had my first F experience with CX in March of this year and it was awesome. I have done SQ F a few times, so I had something to compare it to. Both were very very good.

Also did a BA F from BOM-LHR and it is not comparable to CX/SQ F. Maybe one notch down.

Then I did a AA F from MAD-DFW and that is even a few more more notches down.

Looking forward to CX F next year to India and I am already excited even though it is a year away.

Second Row.. I think they were called 2C and 2F? or maybe 2D?

As for the lounges at HKG... yes, "The Wing" lounge still under construction, and we didnt spend as much time there. They have a small section closed off for F pax, but we decided to try the other lounge. "The Pier" lounge, while a ways away (depending on your gate), was slightly better IMO.

I would definitely recommend the pier over the wing. The pier has showers and is a greater variety of options foodwise.

Glad you had a great time. We'll have our first time in CX F JFK-HKG in less than a week! Can't wait...

I'm putting them out of single malt, or I'll go down trying...

Several years ago, I did two Holiday R/T LAX-HKG-BKK and have never forgotten them as the very best flights, where I arrived so refreshed after all the Krug, Caviar, and Green Tea! :-::-::-::-::-:

So will be taking a final splurge trip with remaining AA miles on Cathay FC to HKG-PVK, soon.
Looking forward to the improvements in the last few years. ^
Plus one of the PJ tops has worn out and needs to be replaced! LOL!

:D:D:D

PS: What is the best way to get the Chinese Visa?
