Most routings via ORD get 5012 miles for $249, or just under 5cpm.

For a creative routing you get a same day turn w/ a redeye return BDL-IAD-SFO-SAN for $263 (eg. Oct. 24) which gets 6838 miles (with 500 mile elite min, 6382 w/out) for 3.85cpm (or 4.12 w/out elite min).

BDL-EWR-SFO-SAN should be a little higher (same 500 min and EWR-SFO is a little longer than IAD-SFO). Good find! AA was down at the same range for a while, but with only a DFW or ORD connection allowed so it was not a really good for an MR.

Works In reverse also. I was taking this for granted but just wanted to check. Works thru feb, 2013. Get a start for the new year. Good find Op

there has been inventory out of other CA airports (SFO, SMF, etc) for slightly higher prices to BDL into 2013. you're looking at 5.2-6cpm in norcal, but still cheaper than repositioning to SAN in most cases.

This looks great! There are Friday red eyes X: SAN so I make it for dinner Sat night!

Hoping for an AA match. SAN can be good MR material especially if you can book the two short connectors on each end...!

AA is close, but it just isn't quite there for an MR (due to the routing rules). It isn't a double connection fare, so the best miles are through DFW. With that routing, even $238 is still 4.5 cpm. AA also is blocking Sunday travel from a lot of their lowest fares, making it harder to do weekends.

Agreed BOSman -- it is too bad AA seems to be blocking Sundays from MR material. Makes finding weekend trips tough. The BOS-LAX-SEA seems the best deal right now, even that requires midweek travel, though.

Maybe we'll see a return of some low BOS-LAX-PHX runs later in the season; that's always another possibility.

EDIT: just noticed that BDL-DFW-SAN is showing $256ai on ITA. That's 4.9cpm and though the times are not great, one could do a Friday same-day run with very short turnaround in SAN.

If I want to do SAN-SFO-EWR-BDL and back on UA and want to upgrade both entire directions using RPUs, can this be done properly on the UA website? The website only lets me pick one individual segment to upgrade per RPU.

Yes. You can check mark all segments, except EWR-BDL which is all coach only
