Hertz - Do Hertz Points Return to Balance if Award Reservation is Cancelled?

I scheduled a one-way rental with 1200 Hertz Points. I no longer need the reservation, and it's still several days away.

If I cancel the reservation online, will the 1200 points return to my balance?

Thank you!

Yes.
The points immediately are added back in to your account.

I made a reservation with points when rates were sky high, and now they are dirt cheap, so I want to pay and save my points for another time. If I cancel the reservation, will I get back the points I used for the reservation?

Yes. They are redeposited in your account immediately.
Exact same question asked three days ago .. a few threads down the page http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz/1377726-do-hertz-points-return-balance-if-award-reservation-cancelled.html

In the previous generation of Hertz pts, I would book a reservation a little before the expiration date of my points and cancel later.

My booking using points would extend my expiration date a year or two (don't remember which) and when I cancelled my reservation using points, I would get the points back right away.

The only time I use points are when it is expensive (last summer in BUF) and other companies were expensive.

Quite often, I will book other companies (especially in small airports where is NO Gold service) and I can get the car just as quickly with Alamo, Budget, Avis, National, & small 3rd/4th tier agencies (Enterprise, Ace, Payless, Dollar, etc). In those cases, I will go with whoever has the lowest final price using coupons, etc.

For larger airports, I will go with someone else if their rate is quite a bit lower than Hertz. With hertz, I can usually find some decent coupons & the right CDP. (note: I will not touch an Hertz employee/retiree CDP!!!). I always check all the time to see if the rates decrease.
