I am looking for the lowest UA ticket from United.com for any airport.

My friend canceled a UA flight and she is not going to fly UA anymore. She decided to give me the rest credit: once i use that canceled reservation to rebook a really really low fare (and minus rebooking fee - $150) , I can get the rest credit as a voucher for my future flight...so does anyone see any super low ticket like less than $40 on united.com? it can be one-way.

again, my question is very simple: what's the lowest fare on united.com now

Thank you!! :)

Welcome to FT!

No, IME, you will have to pay the $150 fee; it's not taken out of the voucher anymore.

I don't think you can do that, the credit is only good for her to use. Maybe I'm wrong is there a loophole?

They used to send a voucher. Not any longer. The balance still must be used in her name

thanks for your quick replies.

i called United. The rest credit = Original fare $248 - $150 rebooking - $ lowest fare i can find, can be used for my future travel.

Now, i am just asking what is the lowest ticket listed on United.com at this moment.

Do not believe everything customer service reps tell you.

The people who post have an amazing fund of knowledge, but I'm not sure they have all the fares memorized. Why not do a search and see?

you're right. the change/rebooking fee is not taken out of the voucher, but i still receive more credits > $150 i paid for future use if i can find a super cheap fare.

If you think that you'll have a legitimate travel to book before her credits expire why don't you just wait and book then. If you're trying to extend the validity of the voucher keep in mind that the credit is valid up to a year after the original purchase date so the longest extension you'd get would be a year.

the 1st re-issued ticket can't be used for myself and she is not going to fly UA.

I think that what OP is saying is that he understands that he can only have the use of the residual after the cert is used and that will likely be in the neighborhood of $40.

To be frank, I would not arrange travel around a $40 credit. That's essentially less than a taxi to/from most airports and about 5 hours of a minimum wage worker's time.
