I think the answer is no based on my search, but I want to make sure. I would like to fly direct from the USA to Korea.

From what I can tell, you are correct. American doesn't fly to Seoul, so doing oneworld to Korea would require a stopover in Japan via Japan Airlines or Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific.

Let me just say this about that. .....

.. or a stopover in LHR or HEL. ;-)
This interactive map (http://onw.innosked.com/) can help you find routes and connections on OW

To get to Korea on OW, you need to go via HKG, NRT/HND, KIX, TPE, HEL or LHR (from december).
There are QF and JL codes on other flights to Korea (SYD with OZ and other Japanese cities with KE), but they aren't useable on OW tickets.

There's no direct OW FLT from the US to TPE, either.

It is a oneworld member marketed flight operated by a non-oneworld member. As its operated by eva air you will not be able to credit to most other OW FF programs other than AA hence not a true oneworld flight.

True, but it still is possible to be routed this way on OW (which I believe was the question in OP and the following). Can't see anyone was asking about earnings (even though that may be a given on FT:)

If it is not operated by a OW carrier (of affilate) it is not a OW FLT.

If the OP is just interested in earning AA miles, AA partner HA offers nonstop service from the U.S. to ICN.
