I have a Qatar flight from Johannesburg to US with a 10 hour transit in Doha and since the ticket was purchased on miles, I was told by Qatar that I couldn't book their transit accommodation through them.
I was wondering what a good airport hotel would be that I could reserve, close to the airport or an airport hotel that could arrange private chauffeured transfers..
Just can't figure out what the best hotel options would be..
Thanks..

Many posters have answered this question many times -- try searching here and the Middle East forum.
The Oryx Rotana, Marriott, and Ritz-Carlton Sharq Village are the three closest five-star hotels to the airport. All have desks at the airport and could arrange private transportation.
These are all viable hotels with different advantages. The Oryx Rotana is the airport hotel, just across the parking lot (though it's difficult to walk to, in a setup that only Qatar could engineer) from the departures terminal. It is the newest of the three, with basic but contemporary rooms and a good variety of F&B -- a tapas bar, all-day dining restaurant, ChiZen, shisha lounge, and Jazz Bar. None of these is a world-class destination, but for a one-day stopover they will suit your needs, unless you're looking for local food.
In that case, I would recommend the Sharq. It's the most upscale of the three, as you'd expect, with beautiful courtyard-style rooms, an Iranian restaurant that gets good reviews, a seafood restaurant, shisha terrace, all-day dining restaurant, and cigar lounge. The Six Senses Spa is very attractive.
The Marriott is a bit dated but with cozy rooms and a good variety of F&B outlets.
There are many other places near the airport, including the MovenPick, which is decent. Depending on when you're arriving, you might try the new Crowne Plaza -- it's scheduled to open in mid-September.

Thank you for the comprehensive list. Looking at the options The Oryx Rotana seems like the best option and i'm going to go ahead and reserve that today....
