guys - is it acceptable to use the shuttle to pick up dinner 1-2 miles away, have the driver wait a minute and get you back to the hotel?

also, do you guys usually tip?

thx

Usually hotels that provide a shuttle will call it an "airport shuttle" if it's only meant for return trips to the airport. Otherwise, they're good for anything you need them for -- usually within a stated max radius.

I've used hotel shuttles for the very purpose you suggest above.

And yes, I usually tip in these circumstances, but it depends on whether its local custom or not.

Some hotels allow this, some don't. For those that do, the answer is easy. For those that don't, suggest you deal directly with the driver and slip him a large bill.

Don't know where you are, but many areas have pooled delivery services which handle this stuff for a fee per person, meaning that you aren't racing around playing takeout guy.

If you are defining the destination (i.e. somewhere other than the hotel's usual key locations), and especially if it's a roundtrip, then yes, a tip is appropriate.

In the USA, a tip is always customary and appropriate, no matter the route.
