Air New Zealand Air Points - Premium Economy for TT Flight

We have booked a flight MEL-AKL-LAX, with the AKL-LAX in Premium Economy on Flight NZ6. Flight #124 MEL-AKL doesn't sell Premium Economy seats, but since it is being flown with a 777-300, has the Premium Economy seats on the plane. We have been unable to get the premium economy seats assigned for the TT flight and have been told they are assigned at the airport. Is this true, and if so, would we have any type of "priority" since we are in Premium Economy on the AKL-LAX leg? Is there any way to increase the chance of securing one of these seats (online check-in)?

I thought any *G status would entitle you to pre select these seats.

You can't seem to pre select these seat on the internet unless you book the full works which never seems good value when you are koru or gold member however at the airport they do shift you to the pe seating

If OP booked MEL-AKL-LAX as one ticket, MEL-AKL could only be booked as Works.

I have a similar booking (with A fare on the trans-Pac and B fare on the trans-Tasman) and I managed to select premium-economy for the trans-Tasman leg.

I'm *G with United so I guess that, rather than the B fare, is what's doing it?

Because your *G that's why you could select it on the Tasman, they block PE off for *G/Koru

Seems like a pretty sweet deal. Most *A airlines don't automatically hand out better seats to *Gs.

You have to be booked on the 'Works' or 'Works Deluxe' product. If you are booking from outside of NZ/AU or as part of a longhaul booking you will be in 'Works'
