Your miles will expire if don't fly on a LAN-coded flight before the expiration day. Flying with oneworld, hotels etc won't save your kilometres. By the way, you have enough kilometres to book a domestic flight within certain South American countries. If in total you have at least 12,000 km, you can also book a very short oneworld flight... You can get tax refund if you don't use the award flights.

You might want to check the LAN website. Anyway, the LAN rules are very clear, flying LAN is the only way to extend the validity of your miles as LANPass is more like European frequent flyer program (eg like Miles&More).
8.15 However, each time the passenger flies on LAN and earns 1 or more kilometers on the flight, all existing earned kilometers in his/her account up to the date of said flight will automatically be renewed, going on to have a period of 36 consecutive months, from the date of said flight and will effectively expire on the last day of the thirty-sixth month.
It goes without saying that there isn't any frequent flyer programs permitting combining miles between programs... Anyway, you can buy kilometres if needed. In lan.com they have all the information you need.

There is one other way to extend the validity of LANPASS Kms., you'll need a LANPASS credit card (at least the Santander Chile one does this) and put 12,000 kms. worth of purchases on it in a year, and all your kms. will extend their validity for another 3 years.

Can't the OP just purchase a few kilometers with any credit card to extend the expiration of his/her mileage?

It won't help. Based on LANPass rules, only status kilometres earned on LAN-operated flights extend the expiration day (there might be few exceptions in some other markets but they are very few like Chilean credit card which gives you Premium status). The conditions of the program are very clear, if in doubt, read them.
