.....at the Metropark, NJ train station you can catch Amtrak trains to Boston.... more information on schedule and prices is at amtrak.com..... you can type-in "Metropark, NJ" as a station name, along with Boston.

For Chicago..... the Amtrak train system also goes to Chicago......you w ould start at Metropark, NJ then connect to another train in New York City Penn Station or Washington, DC.....you can find the schedules and prices on amtrak.com

For train travel advice, please see the Amtrak section of FlyerTalk.

To make a time/cost comparison of train vs. flying, the costs for airlines and trains are lower when you make a reseravtion many weeks in adavance, and sometimes for middle-of-the-week days or Saturdays.

For example, looking at Southwest Airlines for Wed. Sept 12, a flight from Newark (EWR) to Chicago-Midway Airport (MDW) is $100 one-way.

Hope this is helpful.....

You can go to www.southwest.com.......use the website to look at different days...... type in "Newark, NJ" and "Chicago"..... look for the "Round-Trip" ("return") button when you book..... but the air fares are given one-way at a time...... feel comfortable trying many diferrebnt days and flights, a reservation does not become final until you put in a credit card number!

The cheapest way to get to Boston is probably to take NJ Transit to NY Penn Station and Megabus from there. The total return for two can be as little as $50

I and my wife want to visit Indian Markets in Chicago and Boston.

Why in Boston? The Indian Market area in Edison beats anything you will find in Boston, if such an area even exists in Boston.

Megabus also offers a couple of trips a day between the Secaucus Junction rail station and Boston.

Flights between NYC and Chicago are usually cheap if you book in advance. I've been able to get $120 round trip many times. The train from NYC to Chicago would take almost a day. You could fly to India in less time!

Do you plan on going to Boston and Chicago to do other things besides visit the Indian markets? Why not visit New York City, which is a half hour train ride away? I'm sure you can find an Indian market in NYC, there seems to be an area for almost every ethnicity there.
