Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - AS not allowing seat selection for AA EXP

This is new to me. Previously I could get my AS record locator from AA and then go pick exit row seats or preferred seats on AS. But, for a trip I have coming up for Sept 8th to 11th I have the AS record locator from AA but am not able to select exit row seats for myself and companion. Any ideas here? Do I need to call AS?

That doesn't sound right... sounds like you'll need to get on the phone to get this one sorted out.

Maybe there are none left?

Not only do MVPG, MVPs have access to these seats, but so do elite members from DL and AA.

When you look up your reservation on the AS website, does it acknowledge your EXP status on AA? I'm PLT and have flown several codeshares on AS this year (including yesterday) and have never had any problems booking bulkhead or exit row seats once I've gotten my AS PNR. But the AS website has also acknowledged my status as soon as I look up my reservation, so if you're not seeing an explicit acknowledgement something probably got lost in communication from AA to AS.

While it's theoretically possible that all the premium seats have been claimed, I find this extremely unlikely on AS for a flight that's almost a month away.

I have somewhat the same.

Air France (skyteam) elite plus, want to select a vacant exit row seat for sept 6. I can select it but a day later, when visiting the site again, I see I'm put back to a regular seat.

Michael, the difference is that AA and DL have some special relationships with Alaska. Air France and Alaska don't have the same special relationship (Alaska is not a Skyteam member).

You'll be eligible to select exit row seating during the online check in process or any other seat in the cabin that is currently restricted and not available. If exit row seats aren't available during online check in, then I would ask the gate agent once you're at the airport. Sometimes better seats are available as elites are upgraded at the gate to first class.

Turns out that somehow AA had booked me twice onthe flight. I didn't notice it at first, but when I looked at the selection on Alaska for the leg I realized that it showed the seating chart twice as well. Got AA to fix it and now can pick the seats I wanted.
