i love this bit:

"We plan to use technology to the fullest so that the overall convenience level for passengers goes up. Beyond that if a passenger is looking for any special service, there can be charge for that," said sources.

maybe that where they get their 'online convenience' inr 150 fee from....

Another quote from the article of note:
Jet may offer business lounge access to economy passengers also for a fee.

None of these is new to the industry. Jet is has finally woken up and smelled the coffee. The awakening, end of a nice dream for both Jet and its passengers, is proving to be a nightmare for some passengers.
Jet has to be more like "other", whatever that other maybe, dreadful airlines.

I can imagine some complaints rioting here and onboard.

The FA gave skipped me and gave a better meal to some and inedible diabetes inducing meal to me, even though there were plenty of better meals on board.
I had asked for a better one, but the FA ignored my request completely.
Loyal fliers should get better meal.
The FA gave better meal to non-revs.
Jet is going down the tubes.
Jet is loosin losing its touch.

All these things pushes me more towards AI where you still have the convinience of not paying a convinience fee, request for special meals, have award tickets available, get printout of the tickets for free (this might sound too much to demand, but, i hate paying the 50Rs and i have to do it regularly!!)...

I dont see what is wrong with that. People who dont want to pay get their standard meal and people who want a "nicer" meal pay more for it. Clearly Jet needs to make some money and is focusing on ancillary revenue, get ready for paying for any excess baggage and in the not too distant future if things dont turn around... baggage fees. The horror.

The problem is , the exotic meal will be a standard meal, and what used to be a standard meal will come down to the level of sandwich, some cold stuff etc. that's where the problem is, not them charging for it. You are called a full service airline for a reason. If you start behaving like a low cost, then have the courage to call yourself one.

For me, food is the least important part. An eight ti ten hoyr flight is no issue at all, even if I haven't had a chance to eat prior to biarding. On ultra long haul, I sleep through the midflight meal, or not eat any, if I am awake.
A sandwich and a beverage is sufficient.
If you want to gourge on food, take a cruise.
Not long ago, people survived a day ot longer in trains.

This is not a bad thing; quite to the contrary actually.

I do have my doubts as to how many of Jet's customers will think ahead and then use the internet to order and pay.

And knowing Jet, if you change your flight or cancel, they will keep the money. :)
