Hilton HHonors - Bonus Points Earned When Achieving Status Mid-Stay

This question relates really to anyone who will achieve the next elite level during their stay:
In my case, I will cross over from Gold to Diamond during a stay that I am currently on. Does that mean that I will earn the 50% Diamond bonus on the points I earned during the entire stay? Or will they only give me the 50% bonus on the nights that I stayed after I crossed elite thresholds and the 25% Gold bonus on the rest? I'm certainly hoping for the former

I would love to know the answer to this question. I'm currently 1 month into a 4 month stay at a Homewood Suites, and I'll be going from Blue to Diamond (They were nice enough to bump me up to silver once they saw the reservation, but I couldn't convince them to go any higher).
I'm just hoping that they at least give me the Diamond bonus after the switch and not just silver for the whole thing since I "didn't receive diamond status until the stay concluded".

You will not earn your next status until you check out and the stay posts.
Therefore, the entire stay will post together and the tier status (and bonus) will be earned at the tier status you were when you checked in.

Any bonus, etc will be calculated on your status at checkout.
As the status won't change until your stay posts, you will still be gold at checkout.
The correct answer is neither of your choices, you will only get the 25% bonus on the entire stay as you won't be diamond during the stay.
And to answer the next question a dozen people may ask, checking out and back in won't change that, they will combine the stays.

To get around this situation, just check-put stay one night somewhere else and then check back in. Repeat as necessary for each status level change.

One glitch, status change is not immediate and benefits not retroactive. So you need to check out and WAIT for HH to update your status and then check back in.

This is not correct. When your stay post, it will count as of the date it is posted for. So your tier status will show up when the stay post even if you are already checked back in.
Status change will show as soon as the stay post, even if you are already back in the hotel.;)
addition: so, when you check back in and the tier status has not updated, it's fine.
the next time you check out it will already be showing and you will earn your bonus based on that new tier status for that stay. (unless you check back in for 1 day only and that 1st stay still did not post)
