Well, Air Asia has very inconveniently changed my upcoming DPS-BKK flight to DPS-DMK. It wouldn't bother except I have a connecting flight to CMX out BKK.

From what I understand, trying to negotiate anything with Air Asia will likely be futile and it is so much cheaper than the next option, I think I will just live with it.

I have 6 hours between the flights, so the question is... can I get through customs at DMK and make it over to Suvarnabhumi to check in for my Bangkok Air flight to CMX in that amount of time?

If so, what is the best way to do it? Is there a shuttle that runs between the two airports? I'm seeing a company online called Airport Transfers Thailand that has cars running between the two airports for 1200 bt... Sounds like a pretty decent deal. Has anyone tried them?

Assuming all flight are on time, yes u can do it. But take taxi. It should run no more than 200 to 300 baht. Having said that you should be able to get your flight refunded and buy a ticket on a carrier that goes into bkk.

Too expensive! I am not sure if THB 300 for taxi would be enough, but THB 1200 is too much...

I'm assuming that's CNX on either PG or TG, neither of which will allow you to change that flight without penalties.

FD has said you will be able to change flights, but not routing, within a 7 day period around your ticketed flight.

The MCT is 210min so 6 hours is sufficient. Hopefully DMK will have immigration facilities at that time because at the moment there's nothing. ;)

AoT has said there will be a shuttle bus running between the two airports soon*. IIRC is was scheduled to start late Aug. A taxi will run you between 200-300 THB depending upon traffic; tolls will run you 85 THB. Don't bother with a transport company, it's a waste of money in most circumstances.

*Don't ever trust AoT.

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions.

I stopped by Air Asia's website to see if I might be able to change to a different flight that went into BKK, but was greeted by a pop-window that said effective Oct 1, 2012 and onward, Air Asia's operations will be moved from Suvarnabhumi to DMK.

So apparently it's not just the DPS flight.

One would hope they will have immigration facilities setup at DMK by then :)

Living in this region we pay 7000bht or $250 for tickets to Bangkok, you more than likely have to pay double, either way I tbelieve your best bet is GA, Thai Malaysian or Singapore if you are a FF, as you will be able to get mileage

Correct, it's their entire operation.

But, as I mentioned earlier, as part of the move FD has offered the allowance of moving flights within a 7 day period surrounding your currently ticketed date.

1st of all, you've got plenty of time, unless FD is really late & it's 'rush hr'. If you want to avoid the hassle, just stay at DMK & fly up to CNX on Nok or Air Asia. Cheap as chips. I usually pay less than 1500B. Maybe you can get a credit w/ PG or TG or pay & switch the flight to your CNX-BKK return. Nok has a sale now 1100B (TODAY) (& cheaper than that car service) http://www.nokair.com/nokconnext/aspx/index.aspx

what does this mean?

How is this relevant to the OP question about going from DMK to BKK on his existing tickets?
