Aegean Airlines Miles&Bonus - Will A3 credit these miles?

View Full Version : Will A3 credit these miles?

I signed up for A3 back in March 2012 and did a YYZ-LAS trip on UA in April. I most likely forgot to input my frequent flyer # for A3 when I was booking online. The boarding passes show no indication of A3 either (nor AC.. etc). I'm unable to lookup the original booking anymore, using Expedia's itinerary # and UA's booking reference # on their websites.

Will A3 credit these miles towards my account? I'm new to this, so I'm not sure if there's a general rule that airlines follow for matters of this sort. I'm currently *S, so this would help me achieve *G a bit sooner.

I apologize if this question is already answered somewhere else on these forums, but I was unable to find the answer after searching.

Thanks!

If you still have the boarding cards for the flights, you may be able to submit a retrospective claim (if the fares were an earning class).

Thanks colmc. I sent them an e-mail, and have tried completing the redemption for air miles via their website before as well. No response yet, but from what I understand, their customer service is a bit slow.

My experience of the claim air miles procedure is that you don't get any communication at all. The miles will just appear in your account in about 4 weeks. IIRC they have set out a 2 weeks limit for the external airlines to respond and a 2 weeks limit for their own internal procedure. (I believe the claim air miles procedure also will inform of these time limits?) Anyway, I suggest waiting 4 weeks after claim, and if nothing has happened by then, calling and asking is the best course of action.

That indeed is the drill from my experience too , the max time Ive ever waited is 6 weeks.

The OP should contact A3 about this pretty soon as there is a time limit for retrospective credit of miles.

Thanks. Will call them tomorrow. It's unfortunate they are a long distance call!

IMO it's not yet to the point of requiring an urgent phone call, but I would suggest contacting A3 by their website or email soon, with the required documentation. If you wit too long, or if you must appeal the apparent initial decision or if your claim isn't handled promptly, you may need some wiggle room to meet the deadline.

Time limit is 12 months since OP travelled on UA - he should be fine; T&C chapter 5
Existing Miles&Bonus members can claim their miles retroactively for flights that took place up to 12 months prior to their retro-claim request (exception: Air New Zealand, LOT Polish, South Africa Airways and TAP Portugal, for which retro-claim is viable for flights taken place up to 6 months prior to retro-claim request).

I'm a little bit worried about my coming trip in Nov this year, there are 2 segments show *A carrier flight number, however it actually operates by another airline, will A3 credit these miles?

When I bought the ticket through the website, it shows same airline (base on the flight number) and later on I realised that two of them are code-share flight.

And the operating carrier is? Codeshares will only earn if the operating carrier is *A.
(This is not a specific A3 issue, this is the norm in *A)

Operating carrier is a subsidiary company of CA, however it has its own flight code.

Just my luck. Trying to call Aegean (+30 210 62 61 000) using Skype on my iPhone. The dialpad doesn't register when I enter any language selection to move on. My iPad doesn't give any audio output, but the speaker functions fine.

Air China flights operated by Air Macau, Beijing Airlines, Dalian Airlines, Shandong Airlines, and Shenzhen Airlines are not eligible for mileage accrual.

Shenzhen Airlines is in the process of joining Star Alliance, and you will be able to accrue with them starting late this year.

Thanks for your reply. My flight is opereated by Shenzhen airlines, as you mentioned that it is in the process of joining *A, my trip will be in Nov, do you think I will be eligible to accure miles at that time?

It's possible. Keep your fingers crossed.

Called A3. They requested photos of the boarding passes be sent to miles_bonus@aegeanair.com, including my frequent flyer #. She mentioned it would take about 3 weeks to see any updates on my account, though I suspect it will take longer. The countdown begins..

Finally, I got the miles credited to my account. This took 3 months. Probably would have taken less time if I bugged them more. They were polite in their e-mail communication.
