United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - "OnePass" four times recently: Is something up?

Took a flight on Monday IAD-BNA. FA announces something like "We at United want to give a special thanks to our OnePass customers. OnePass is the frequent Flyer program for United. For information about OnePass please go to united.com".

Are they changing the name of the program?

Nah it is probably more us vs them mentality.

Yes, I've heard that one too sometime in the last couple of months. Struck me as a marginally less blatant version of the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-mileageplus-consolidated/1335765-thank-you-flying-united-operated-continental-flight-cabin-crew.html syndrome.

I am surprised that they are still saying that now...

Why not - on behalf of United and its SkyTeam partner...;)

Was it a Continental Express crew? I have noticed they are more apt to say whatever comes to mind.

On one mainline and two express flights last month I heard. "OnePass and Mileage Plus members." If you have been saying it (OnePass & Continental) for years and its hard to get used to saying MileagePlus and United I can understand, but its been 5 months since they merged in name.

On a recent sUA flight, the purser welcomed both MileagePlus and OnePass members.

... the purser welcomed both MileagePlus and OnePass members.

Happened to me on three flights last week.

On two occasions in the last 10 days, I've had pmCO telephone CSRs who said, "Thank you for being a OnePass member." And then this weekend, BOS-IAH and IAH-SFO, the flight attendants doing the announcements both thanked "our OnePass members". I have seen passing reference to similar in threads that were discussing other topics here. Have you encountered similar? Do you think it's really inadvertent or that there's something more to it?

I've noticed that my last couple of flights they've thanked both their onepass and mileage plus members, and these were on PMUA planes & crew.

Even MP doesn't seem to have a handle on things; why did they send me new credit cards? Credit cards with the same # and same CCV on the back (which seems exceptionally dumb; since that's a security measure that can only be changed with a new card... and since they're sending one out, they had the opportunity to make things more secure at no extra cost). Only change is that it no longer has any MP number on it. Why? All of us long-time MP folk might have had our old numbers memorized and it was on the CC; now?

It doesn't seem like there's someone (or a department) whose only responsibility to it smooth out the human aspects of the transition (for customers).

Ex-COn angst.

Some of that is just automatic as they have been saying it for years.

It may be automatic, but it remaining automatic shows unconscious (if not conscious) opposition to the merger and is 100% unprofessional. Your job includes knowing the trade name of your company and of its products. If you can't tell the difference between OnePass and Mileage Plus after 5 months, how can you be smart enough to tell the difference between how to open an overwing exit on a 737-900 vs a 737-500?

I would actually read a LOT into it. If UA cant get this right, they have really serious cultural problems going on. This is not something that was going on during other large mergers.

I've flown a lot since 3/3- and since then it's pretty much consistently been "MileagePlus." My last three flights, the sUA FA said "MileagePlus and OnePass." Strange

Had this happen on a PMCO 738 last week. FA announced something like, "We'd like to welcome our OnePass customers who will earn credit for this flight. OnePass is the new Mileage Plus program for United."

I figured it was a slip of the tongue or habit, since the crew didn't pull any of the "proudly operated by a Continental crew" lines.

Think about how hard it must be for Chautauqua FA's who work as four different airlines

Twice last month it was "...welcome our OnePass members" with no MP mention. No "proudly operated by Continental" announcement. The FAs all had the "ex-CON" wristbands on.
