What explains the weekend of 13-16 September in SF?? No properties have any points rooms for the Thursday - Sunday period. No government rates or reasonable weekend rates either. Been like that for 2 months.

Looks like there are some big conferences in town. That has happened to me in the past. The Courtyard in San Bruno is nice if you have a car or can get a shuttle to BART or CalTrans. I've also looked in Oakland, a quick ride to SF on BART (I don't recommend the drive).

Sometimes you can get a good deal at the Courtyard Fisherman's Wharf.

Cheers,

Probably a trade show. Most hotels in downtown San Francisco raise their rates when one is happening at Moscone Center.

If you can't find a decent rate, stay out near the airport & take the BART into town.

Cheers.

Must be a big convention as I couldn't even get a room at my preferred HI on Market St.

Yes - appeared about an hour ago and I snapped it up. ICACC (the big medical Infectious Disease meeting) ends the 12th and an intensive google search doesn't clue me in to anything major over the weekend. Hoping for better than the CY...actually hoping for a reasonable rate (I need the nights to re-hit plat).

Sometimes rooms are blocked for a meeting and get released after the booking deadline, fingers crossed.

I just googled. Intel has a developer's conference, and there's a bunch of other conferences in San Fran that weekend. You add them all up & they can fill up the city.

Cheers.

Dreamforce 2012 (Salesforce.com) runs as of the 18th, which has 25-35,000 people coming into the city.

The Oracle Retail Conference is also from 16th to the 21st, although further south in Redwood Shores.

Finally, Oracle OpenWorld is from Sept. 30th to October 5th, with another 25-40,000 people flooding the city.

As mentioned earlier, SF is a major conference town, and it'll be packed in September - with 200% inflated prices for rooms.
