Asiana Club - First OZ Flight Next Summer ICN-JFK in F - Expectations?

So, I just booked my first flight on OZ next summer as part of an anniversary trip with my wife. We are on the ICN-JFK flight booked in what appears to be a 3 class 777. I am not a complete noobie, so I've read a bit of this forum and can tell there are multiple products for long haul F with OZ, but I'm struggling to understand what we should specifically expect for that route next year. Also, I know nothing about the lounges, etc. at ICN.

I would really appreciate any input that could help us anticipate our big trip especially concerning the lounges in ICN (Arriving from HKG and connecting to the JFK flight), first class seat for this equipment, meal service, amenity kit provided, in flight entertainment, etc.

I'll keep searching the forums for more information on this flight as well, but appreciate anything anyone is willing to share.

Would suggest looking into the ICN-ORD-LGA (you will get the new first class suite).

From ICN...you will have access to the main terminal Asiana First Class lounge. Very nice lounge with massaging chairs and good abundance of food and drinks. Definitely ask the staff to fix you a ramen (bowl of noodles); it will be served in nice bowls and not in the plastic cups.

Good amount of sushi and hot foods. You will not go hungry.

Ex-ICN, you have to order the Korean or Chinese selection, since they are not part of the onboard menu; only the Western food is.

No arrivals lounge in NYC.

If you take the routing through Chicago...you will have access to the UA Global First lounge. This is add to your experience.

The ICN-NYC hard product is not the best (hopefully) they will have the new 777s flying this route next year. The soft product is the best...service is beyond any US domestic airline - rivals any of the Asian carriers. Very attentive.

Thanks for sharing...that's great information.

I'll look into the ICN-ORD option. Is that the new suite product every day or only on certain days? Just curious if they have the equipment to make that a daily option.

Thanks again!

They have only one 777 with the suite...they might have one more by next year.

The ICN-ORD is M-W-F-S...so there are lots of options.

By the way, the new suite is 80k instead of the 70k.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. I found availability on a Wed date that works for us, so I'm going to try to make the change from the ICN-JFK flight. I post my results. Even if I didn't get the suite on that flight, I would still get back home quicker than the other flight.

I appreciate the tip.

Not sure how you get home faster to NYC, by changing in ORD?

By the way, if you have UA miles, UA will only charge you 70k for the first class suite, but it's the question of finding availability.

Also, one more thing you have to keep in mind...you have to pre-order your meal, if you want Korean or Chinese. If you don't you will won't get the "special" "Royal" meal.

You should further research it on FT to find out more about.

We were just connecting through JFK. What's worse, we were set to change airports to LGA to make the last hop down to CLT. Now we are much simpler with ICN-ORD-CLT. And, we are confirmed on new suite product they just announced on July 30th. Very excited and appreciate all the tips.

Not sure when your summer flight from ORD-ICN; but you might want to be aware starting on July 22, the First Class "Oz Suites" will be moving to JFK-ICN.

Thanks for that update. I noticed last week some chatter on this topic, but assuming the date remains July 22nd, we should be OK. Our scheduled flight ICN-ORD in the suites is set for very early in July. Because I'm a worrier, I check the seat map every few days and so far it still looks good.

What a kick in the nads it would have been to change from our original ICN-JFK plans only to have the suite product moved back there before our flight. :) Hopefully, we will be OK, though.

Be careful, the seat maps for the two aircraft are identical, so do not use that as a guide. The aircraft from ORD is moving on July 22, so if you are in early July you are ok. You can always call Asiana to confirm.
Also, I have heard that these suites are "Singapore-like", so I have very high expectations, although I only used 140k DM that I bought for around 1.3 cents each (weighted average) so im getting a great deal even if they don't live up to the hype.

You heard wrong then.

The OZ suites are not "SQ like" on their 380, the middle two seats cannot have the middle partition lower to become 2 conjoined double beds.

Just think of it like TG's 77W (9W leased ones)
