United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Three-cabin aircraft on domestic IAH-ORD route; how to sit in front?
I booked a round-trip IAH-ORD for September. My aircraft, both ways, is scheduled to be a sUA B767 with international three cabin configuration: F, C, and Y. I paid the B "economy" bucket fare and was upgraded to "United First," which gave me access to the business-class section of the int'l configured aircraft.
The question I have is: How do I book a ticket in the first-class section? That section is not actually "for sale" because UA seems to have mapped the "United First" domestic product onto the "International Business First" cabin configuration, leaving the "International Global First Cabin" without a valid pricing structure for domestic travel.
Thanks!

It may be route specific but you absolutely can purchase J and F (and discounted buckets) on domestic routes with scheduled 3-cabin service. I've done this on SFO-ORD-SFO plenty of times.

Before you go spending more money on this ticket, I'd be curious if the aircraft might still be changed. Anyone have experience with this route or general situation????

Well, you just saved me $300. Here is what happened: your reply prompted me to go back and see if I can price that trip in "first class" so that I can access the front cabin. In the process, I found that the discounted first class fare in booking code P was only $1,100, i.e. $300 cheaper(!) than the B-code economy fare I had purchased for $1,400 (which came with a free upgrade). The P-code fares at $1,100 were available on all flights except the three cabin aircraft, where only the F-code fare was available for $1,900. So I switched to a 737-800 both ways and am now in confirm "United First" booked in P-code fares.
Interesting the P fares were not available in the morning when I booked this, and still don't show up on ExpertFlyer. I hope they will honor them.
BTW, the cheapest fare in the economy cabin was $1,030 in the E bucket. So the first class fare difference was only $70 round trip. Totally worth it.

In September the cheapest fare between Houston and Chicago is $1030 RT? That is horrible.
Not sure what dates you are traveling but I'd buy a WN ticket for that 2.5 hour flight for 300 bucks.

Yes, this is the cheapest fare without a 3-day stay.

Wasnt the point to get F on the 3 cabin Intl config?
C on the an Intl config 767 is still much better than F on the 737, no?

Yes, for $1400 I would have liked to see what the global first cabin looks like. Never traveled in one. But now that I could get the ticket for $1100, I am happy to seat in domestic F. I will not pay $1900 to sit in Global F.

Gotcha!
I agree, especially since you will recieve domestic catering, regardless of the aircraft.

Work at UA - F class on domestic 3-cabin is often stuffed with crew.

why not selling it for extra revenue by offering a three-class domestic service?

On international flights, too!

Tough value proposition when the prices have a significant premium over biz, flights are short, the soft product is domestic, and elites buying econ tickets on the flight will probably get upgraded to biz anyway.

So I'm flying tomorrow on UA 984 IAH - ORD on the 763 int'l config and got upgraded to C two weeks ago.
I assumed that on the C to F upgrade list I would find names that do not appear on the Y TO C UG list (C revenue customers), but i was wrong.
The entire list is composed of customers that got UG'ed ealier from Y to C, and now some of them are on the C to F list. how is that possible?
