Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - Question about booking and upgrade award

Ok guys so basically I live in Montreal but I travel to TLV for VFR purposes about 2-3 times a year.
So obviously my miles and more account lists my address as being in Canada.

Now my question is: If I change the address to that of the address I stay at while in Israel and book an upgrade award with my M&M points at the lower rate (M&M considers Israel as part of europe so Y>J is only 15k) will they ask for proof of residency or anything like that? Or will I be good to go without them knowing any better?

If I understand your question correctly, I think you may be reading the MAM upgrade chart incorrectly, the mileage required for upgrades has nothing to do with your country of residence but rather the flight route...Also Israel is part of Middle East as far as MAM is concerned

Hope that helped!

You're wrong and the OP is right.

See note 6:
6) For members residing in Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia, whose journeys begin or end in their country of residence, the award levels for Europe apply.

And I don't think M&M will ask OP for proof. No FF programme has ever done that to me and I have been moving around a bit.

Ok thanks boys (or gals?)
I just feel like i'm being ripped off shelling over between 35k and 50k miles for an upgrade on a 4 hour flight.
10k-15k is much better, at those rates I can upgrade my non FF brother(s) too if they're traveling with me.
