US Airways Dividend Miles - Is there a limit to the number of miles you can purchase

I've been seeing alot recently about the famed 100% buy miles promotion, and it looks like an amazing deal. I was wondering though if it's there's any limit to the number of miles you can purchase in any given timeframe (ie membership year/calendar year).
I know United cap it at 100,000 per year. I'm thinking if they do another 100% promo, or buying 50K (getting another 50K) but then I'd be about 20K short for an F redemption to/from Asia..
If i did the above (assuming there is another promo), could I buy another 20K a month later?
Advice appreciated.

The special promotions are always capped, the current 100% match is limited to buy 50k, get 50k "free." As far as I know, they do not have an annual limit.

Keep in mind that the current promo is only an amazing deal if you can use the miles on tickets that would otherwise be very (or prohibitively) expensive. I would not use these miles for flights that I would normally buy with cash.

There's no annual limit to miles purchase at US that I know of.
No need to wait a month to purchase the remaining 20k miles, but you'd have to pay the "full price" for those (unless there's another promo!)

Just be real careful how many times a year you buy this as if your accounts get 'audited' which happens often to people who buy these miles, USAirways will lock your account for 3-6 months in 'audit' and you cannot use the miles, leave alone earning it by flying. Basically, you cannot do anything on USAirways any more.
If you need more details of these issues of locking the account up, read my earlier thread or send me an email and I will gladly answer any questions you may have.

The OP is in SYD and air fares in this market are very expensive. Coupled with the strength of the A$ buying US Airways miles often results in business class travel for the same price as an economy fare. Even at $0.035/mile.

Many of us buy regularly and don't get audited...I don't think the OP has anything to worry about on that score. Book tickets for other people, maybe auditing is a possibility.

Thanks for the responses. Good to know.
I have tried to do some online searches for award seats but I get an error message saying "we don't offer awards to/from these ports".
FYI I was searching SYD-LAS return then I tried SYD-SFO, then NRT-LAS or LAX and no dice. These would all be UA options on *A awards.. Should they be visible online?

No, US only offers online award booking for US Airways flights.

You have to define "often" if you're going to post such warnings here.

That's extraordinarily hard to believe. For example, a J seat for a SYD-LAX rt would run 110,000 miles. At $.0.035/mile, that'll cost US$3850. Economy fares SYD-LAX run US$3850?

The OP is talking about buying miles during 100% bonus promos...and so am I.

My comment was based on your words: "The OP is in SYD and air fares in this market are very expensive. Coupled with the strength of the A$ buying US Airways miles often results in business class travel for the same price as an economy fare. Even at $0.035/mile."
Thanks for clarifying. The last sentence made it sound as if you thought that buying miles "even at $0.035/mile" (with no mention of the current promo) was a good deal for people in Australia.
