+1. Raffles longhaul is the standard by which all other insane non mistake fares are measured.
I'm seeing 3.8 cpm on UA and DL depending on dates. AA is also out there but is a little higher. Spent a lot of time on my BOS-SIN thread this morning working it down cpm-wise, and Raffles longhaul smokes it as always :D.
Bermuda airport taxes are high though, I thought it was supposed to be a tax avoiding haven? :D

Sooo tempted to pull the trigger on this wild VR itinerary. Positioning to SEA brings it up to 5 cpm overall, but still not a bad fare at all to BDA, and it would be a lot of fun.

I put in the airport codes I knew would be valid routing's for BOS-SEA and SEA-BDA. For instance just now I did a search with IAH SEA SFO EWR for outbound advanced routing and EWR SFO SEA IAH and found for 10/27 - 10/29 $529 for 14958mi @ 3.5CPM. of course the connections stink more than the one i posted.

Access the following link before beginning your search http://matrix.itasoftware.com/?showPricePerMile=true. After this all future sessions will include CPM in the results. Sometimes my browser goes back to the non -CPM version and i go to the same link again.

I'd throw a UA+ in front of all of that, just to prevent ITA from choking while trying desperately to look for other airlines.

Thanks pfbloom. I never new that. It was tedious to have to calculate cpm for every fare, which you couldn't do without knowing the miles, for which, you have to select the fare.
The only thing to look for is that ITA doesn't calculate 500 mile minimums, so if you have a fare with a leg where that applies, then you'll need to look up that leg, and bump the ITA mileage by 500-(mileage of leg), and redo the CPM total.

Right. But it does give an upper limit on cpm for that fare, if there is an under 500 milr leg. actual cpm will be lower than that indicated.

BOS-SEA-SFO-BDA and reverse should work on .bomb multi-city. Not going to check but I'd think it would work if flight times were specified.
It was easier than I thought. I did multi-city BOS-SEA and SEA-BDA and it came up fine. I was expecting to have to do a bunch of tweaking. I never have any luck searching segment by segment and usually default to Or***z

Is it possible to fly *anywhere* else in the Caribbean cheaply from Bermuda? I'd love to use this fare as an excuse to go island-hopping, but a quick (maybe sloppy) attempt at an ITA search looks like $600 RT is the best I can find to anywhere, and I can get to the Caribbean from Seattle for those kind of prices.
Are there little airlines that ITA doesn't list that might help?
I understand that this may just be the way airfares are in the islands.

Been playing with combos originating in IAH for the last hour and there aren't any G fares IAH-SEA out there :/
Best I can do is $660 all UA IAH-SEA-SFO-EWR-BDA-EWR-LAX-SEA-IAH
Just doesn't make sense at 5.5 CPM :/
US has IAH-PHX-SEA RT at $320 which would bring it down to $600, but the return times don't work and buckets are tight.

Bermuda not part of the caribbean islands close to 1000mi away. Looking at the airports wikipedia page the only airlines that go to Bermuda go from the USA.

Here's an old blog post from Seth indicating that the Bermuda Customs/Immigration can be less than pleasant towards unusual travel patterns:
The drawback to this flight is that same day turnarounds are very difficult. I haven't found one yet, and I don't know if it is possible. I considered having a lovely weekend in Bermuda, but when I did a search for hotels, I realized they are fricking expensive, starting at $160 on the standard sites. We opted not to go forward with this one, as the peripheral costs sort of ruin its value.

I've never had problems with BDA either, though I've always had either a business visitor's letter or a work permit. But if you had a same-day turn, I imagine the worst that BDA customs would do is deny you entry and make you take the next flight out - which, conveniently, you have a ticket for and were going to do anyway :p

No Hyatt and no timeshare that we have access to either! It seems $400 is the average price that I am seeing on Expedia. $752 per night at
Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa! Wife is bringing her sister so 5 of us will need 2 rooms times 7 nights!!!! Jumped on the deal too quickly and was really debating on this during 20th~24th hours......

If your based out of Seattle you could stay a day or two and come back home or have your vacation in Seattle and BDA , buying another fare from BDA-SEA Rt. for as little as $267 a.i. and earn a few thousand miles.
In June 2013 I see fares from BDA to SEA Rt. from $327 a.i.

Camping in Bermuda is generally permitted for the residents. If you are a tourist, there are two ways you can go about it.
1) If you are coming through an organized school camping tour, the school will need to apply to the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, and get the permit well in advance.
2) Or, alternatively you have taken up a commercial accommodation in the island (like a hotel or a cottage), and now trying to enjoy camping at an additional cost. By this the government ensures that it's not losing out on its tourism income through hotels. You will need to register and apply with Department of Parks in advance (Phone: 441/236-5902 or 236-4201). There is a one time refundable security deposit ($100) and a camping fee of $12 per night.
A miracle or the quick turnaround back to SEA seem to be good options at this time ;)

I suppose it also helps that when I go I put down that I'm visiting family. My Uncle is a Bermudian citizen. And in Bermuda, a lot of the locals know each other :). Bermudian accent - "Who's your uncle" I just say his last name, "Oh my tell him I said hello!!!"

I'm in Bermuda. To clarify a few questions here:
1) There is no transit desk at BDA airport. All pax go through Immigration and Customs, who are trying to be nicer lately. You can then walk over to departures, but you need to get them to view your passport at check-in at least 60 minutes before departure. This means you can't arrive and depart on the same plane. Because most airlines have only one or two flights a day, the check-in desk does indeed close 60 minutes before departure. US Customs clearance is in Bda, so tight connections are possible in the US. It is possible to do a day-trip to the island if you take one of the early morning flights that arrives around 11am and get on a 4pm departure... I've done it when I needed to pick something up while in NYC. The only flights from the island go to the US east coast, Toronto, and LGW. The easiest connection to other islands is to take the morning AA to MIA.
2) Bermuda is a very expensive destination. It was the wealthiest country in the world until recently. Hotels are $300 minimum. There are no hostels. Camping is illegal except for one weekend in late July. It is illegal for tourists to drive cars. Checking for a room in a private house or finding a guesthouse is a good idea, particularly if you need two rooms, as these places may have double-rooms or other family solutions. The NYT Frugal Traveler went to the island and found a room for about $100 in St. George's, at the far east end. I don't mean to scare you, but the Bermuda tourism product caters to wealthy people who enjoy a safe and exclusive British island with few other tourists and quick connections to New York and Boston. It's not a good MR destination.
Happy to recommend my driver by PM if you need a taxi service.

Most taxis are mini-vans like the Toyota Alphard V (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Alphard) or Nissan Elgrand (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Elgrand) that will accommodate your family, luggage, and golf bags, with room to spare. Cabbies are all honest. One thing you don't need to worry about is being ripped-off or taken advantage of.
There is also an extensive and safe public bus (http://www.gov.bm/portal/server.pt?space=CommunityPage&control=SetCommunity&CommunityID=252) and ferry (http://www.seaexpress.bm/portal/server.pt) system that will get you just about anywhere for a couple of bucks. Just follow local custom and say "g'morning" to the driver before boarding.

The best fare I am currently finding on DL is $315.20 (booked it last night for October travel). It's not a mileage run for us (we chose the fastest routing with only one connection) at 4.7c/mile but rather a mini beach vacation.
The statement about the hotels costing $300 minimum is not correct. There are hotel rooms at $150 (+taxes and fees)/night, including even Fairmont Southampton. Hotels in Bedmuda have sales too :)

Just returned from a great trip to this beautiful island.
To answer your question, you might be able to turn around within the 55 minutes time span if you get lucky and will be one of the first to arrive at BDA immigration and customs and find the "right" officer.
If you get unlucky you will be grilled about your purpose of visit, your address of stay, the amount of money you brought and have to show your return flight etc.
In addition, BDA is a US border preclearance facility and even at 2½ hrs before departure the lines for US immigration were long - but this was on a weekend and the 2 officers handled passengers rather quickly and happily.
I've never seen happy, smiling & engaging immigration officers on my frequent returns to the US and couldn't resist to ask the question.
