Hilton HHonors - Hilton Fashion District or Waldie?

So, going to need to stay around Time Square for a weekend soon. Which would be a better stay, the Hilton in the Fashion District or the stalwart, Waldie Astory?

I've never stayed at the WA but the FD is much more my style with modern furnishings.

During the weekend (actually, even at night during the week) there will be a lot more to do (restaurants, bars, etc.) around the Hilton FD since it's pretty dead on the east side where the W=A is.

I've stayed at both and they are totally two different animals, very difficult to compare. There's really not a lot of dining choices immediately close to either. W=A is not too far from Grand Central, but there is no free breakfast. At FD Diamonds get the free breakfast in their restaurant, but there's not much to hope for in the way of an upgrade, and the rooms are very small.
I would say it's just up to your personal preferences, and the rates, if that's a consideration.

Just had a one night stay. The rooms are small but most are in NYC. Had room on floor 22 facing Empire State Building. Little bit of noise from hall. Apparently the rooftop bar must be pretty popular as there was a constant line in the lobby for access. As Diamond received two breakfast coupons, points as amenity, bag with two bottles of water and box of peanuts, told about internet access. Given the size room was well thought out and pretty clean. Would return.

as a diamond, i almost always get an upgrade to a mini suite or better at waldorf. On the other hand, an upgrade at fashion district hilton is just to a higher floor. All the rooms are identical at this hotel.
