LH was just asserting it dominance over poor ole UAX :)

The photos show what appear to be damage to the tail of the United Express aircraft and to the wing tip of the Lufthansa jet.

Actually a UAX plane, Colgan. Not a United aircraft thankfully.

Similar accident just occurred at PVG (Shanghai, China) yesterday (also 8/10/2012), China Eastern vs. Malaysia Air. Glad no injuries in either case.

Colgan is still being allowed to fly? Seriously, by now you'd think they would have been shut down.

The way that I read it is that the LH plane hit the UAX plane?

The Washington Post reported tonight that it was a PIT-IAD flight that had just landed.

Based on information in the Post story, the time of the incident (1520 hours) and the photos on the WUSA-TV site, I think the flight was UA3912, operated by Colgan, according to .bomb. The Post quoted a Pinnacle spokesman, though Colgan and Pinnacle are the same thing for all intents and purposes.

According to .bomb, UA3912 was aircraft #199. That same aircraft was slated to fly as UA3918 IAD-ALB 1717-1856, but that flight was cancelled. "Operations" per Unitedcargo.com.

No UA departures from ALB show as cancelled, so a replacement aircraft must have been subbed in.

Unrelated: united.com is showing a flight ALB-IAH, UA1858, set for an on-time departure at 0335 Saturday. Searching for that flight number's status produces a wide-open seat map for a Boeing 767-400 ER. The seat map shows 227 of 235 seats open. Don't know if it's a diversion, ferry flight or what. Pity that .bomb won't sell tickets for the flight. It would be a trippy last-minute flight, to heck with the CPMs, for ALB-based FTers who could get to the airport in the next three hours.

ETA: Should have looked before I posted. UA107 MUC-EWR diverted Friday to ALB, according to FlightAware (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL107/history/20120810/0720Z/EDDM/KEWR), arriving at 1245. The flight is probably not as empty as the seat map indicates.

Looks like LH pilots are now being coached by the Miles and More team.

While UA107 diverted to ALB that plane was a 763. UA ferried a 764 IAH-ALB as UA1852 which then continued as UA107 ALB-EWR. The 763 which had landed at ALB as UA107 was then repositioned to IAH as UA1858; there would be no pax aboard, save perhaps some random deadheading crew.
