Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles - Earn miles = Status miles?

Hi,

I guess this is a rather ignorant question, but I could not find the answer anywhere even in the FAQ.

But if I understood the program rules, the distance miles earn (based on booking class) is equal to the status miles to retain your status?

Do they also take into account the bonus miles you receive as a Elite/Elite+ member into the calculation of the status miles?

Yes, I believe you are correct. Not based on my actual experience but it says:

"Earn double miles on Turkish Airlines Business Class flights : Elite Card members earn double Status Miles of the actual miles flown on Business Class"

Which is the bonus miles you earn with elite/elite+, so it should be included in the calculation of status miles.

My understanding is that you earn bonus miles and status miles if you buy and fly on a TK or another Star Alliance ticket. However, if you have a TK credit card, for example, you just get bonus miles when you use it to pay for something. It-s possible the same is true for miles earned from car hire and staying at hotels, though I-ve never done this myself so I-m not sure.

1) flying on Business with TK between IST-HKG, my status miles
4985 (base miles) +4985 (due to Elite status and Business tix) = 9970 status miles
2) flying economy with LH (Y -bk class) between FRA-HKG, my status miles
5699 (base miles) = 5699 status miles

Is this understanding correct?
