Amtrak Guest Rewards - Coast starlight arrival time question

I am going to take the coast starlight from LA to Seattle on 4/26/13. The schedule puts the arrival in Seattle at 8:45pm 4/27.

I know the Coast Starlight is often delayed, thus my question is - what is the earliest time you would suggest booking my return flight (happens to be to BOS)?

I am thinking of departing Seattle around 10pm on 4/28, giving a day of cushion (of course if the CS arrives on time, booking a hotel room in Seattle for the night of 4/27).

What do y'all think?

I think the full day of cushion is fine. From my standpoint, I would prefer staying two nights in Seattle to permit some sightseeing and a nice dinner, plus it avoids the red eye back east, but as a means of making the trip Amtrak-proof, your plan looks good.

thanks for the info; your confirmation is nice. I booked the red-eye on sunday night so I should have some time in Seattle. Also just called to get my CS reservation. Should be fun!
