Other Asian, Australian and South Pacific Frequent Flyer Programs - Where/How to book a OneWorld Global Explorer with Malaysia Airlines?

I was wondering whether anyone has experience booking a OneWorld Global Explorer ticket with MAS. How does it work? According to MAS it's already possible in theory, even though they haven't joined OW yet. This is the press release:

http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/de/en/corporate-info/press-room/latest/mas-links-up-to-global-explorer-round-the-world-fare.html

but like so often with MAS, the promise does not live up to the reality. MAS reservations say it's not possible. I've talked to three different agents and their managers. They have in turn put me through to MAS ticketing, who say booking the Global Explorer is possible, but that I need to talk to reservations.

OneWorld, in turn, does not list any MAS flights in its booking tool.

I'm trying to book a RTW ticket with MAS as I'd prefer not to spend the extra hours transiting in Hong Kong, but I'm about to give up hope.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Has anyone managed to include Malaysia Airlines flights in a Global Explorer ticket and who was it booked with?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I agree wholeheartedly but I wonder why you would want to fly on MAS after a statement like this :p

I suspect that MH cannot ticket the GE itineraries yet but they can be part of an itinerary. MH uses the same booking code as AA BA CX KA and QF for GE tickets: First (A), Business (D), Economy (L). And the fare basis is:

FARE BASIS:
LGLOB26 26000 (ECONOMY ONLY)
LGLOB29 29000 (ECONOMY ONLY)
LGLOB34/DGLOB34/AGLOB34 34000 (ALL CLASSES)
LGLOB39 39000 (ECONOMY ONLY)

More details here:

Any OW member can book the RTW tickets. I would suggest calling another OW member who has better trained staff and ask about MH flights being available on GE itineraries.

FWIW, I have found the OW on-line booking tool does not always include all the flights available, particularly if you are booking far in advance.
