KLM reported on Twitter, they are coping with an IT failure.

KLM is experiencing an IT failure and does all it can to solve this. If you have any questions turn to KLM Facebook and Twitter.

Reports are OLCI is affected and impossible for the moment.

EDIT: KLM just told me the bookingengine is also down.

It now even causes delays!!! This is more than issues on the website.

Due to a failure at Schiphol, European flights are delayed by 60 to 90 minutes and intercontinental flights with 60 minutes. According to the article, ALL flights are effected.

IT problems were solved at 12:30. Flights disruptions will ease.

Apparently the IT problems were caused when a part of the system was replaced during regular maintenance.

Someone(s) at KLM IT indeed has a really bad day.

EDIT: Apparently booking engine and OLCI are still not functioning (properly).

I got this from AF/KLM this morning:

"We will like to reply and inform you that indeed we are experiencing some technical issue and we are truly sorry for the inconvience that it might caused."

Full summer holidays period. Airports packed with once-a-year travelers. This is just going to hurt in soooo many ways.

A few months ago I checked out the company AF/KLM has subcontracted for their IT and didn't notice if it was the same company that RBS uses :D

It would seem that the SkyTeam alliance is becoming even more tightly integrated; bad IT is the hallmark of its largest member.

This explains why some of the functions were not working this morning and also some of the displays were weirdly overlapping.

Was trying to check the flight status which my mother was on but kept getting an error.
Even trying to check online for an award ticket was not possible.

It seems to have affected all KLM regional/country websites in general.

:)

Latest reports suggest that everything is working properly again, some delays are possible still.

EDIT: But OLCI isn't working for me atm...

EDIT: Yes, now it is :D

Anybody also experiencing problems with OLCI?

For the first time ever it sends me to the AlItalia website for check-in and that site does not accept the reservation or ticket # for my KL flight leaving FCO tomorrow.

Appears KL's website problems are not over yet.

EDIT: Tried check-in via the Ipad - message says I am flying with a partner airline, but I am not. Will send an email to KL to inform them they have still problems.

I had just set out for AMS at the time this thread was posted!

In the end, I only just made my flight (which was over to London for an Olympic final, so I'd have been very annoyed to have missed it). But it wasn't the IT problem - I saw no evidence of delays, and my flight left on time (more or less, I was one of the very last to board).

The problem for me was that there was a problem on the train tracks between Hoofdorp and the tunnel so most services to Schiphol from the south were cancelled.

I don't think this is a problem.

Last time I had a flight operated by Alitalia, with a KL number, and leaving FCO (which I think is the same situation as you) I was directed to the Alitalia website to check in, and wasn't in the end able to check in online at all.

Though I notice that you said back in June (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/18700673-post7.html) that such flights were now OLCI-able on klm.com. (That quote of yours from June also suggests this is not the first time ever you've been directed to the AZ website).

Flight is operated by KLM; it is my usual flight and I always OLCI through the KL website.

I have been directed to the AZ website a few times when on AZ-operated flight (mostly also AZ-ticketed), but that has been a long time ago. The OLCI-able ticket in June was an AZ-operated flight with KL-ticket.

Anyway, I have a EC seat reserved for AMS-GRU so in worst case I get a middle seat FCO-AMS (I noticed ExpertFlyer shows 0 in Y / 3 in C so I may get lucky;))

Oh, well that really is weird!!! I just assumed that it must have been an AZ-operated flight seeing that it sent you to the AZ website. Sorry!

I think the problem is that the reservation include a TAM ticket. MMB shows a "check in >" box also for the TAM flight, which is not until Friday afternoon (1 day stop over). I had this combination of flights before, could check in online, not print out boarding passes.

Maybe the website is confused and the combination departure FCO and a 3rd flight with a partner airlines sends me to AZ.
