KLM Flying Dutchman - Flying Blue Platinum members no free bag or exit row seating

I just checked in with KLM online for my return flight and got charged for a second bag, plus a charge request for the exit row seat. These are normally free to FB platinum members. No warning given, to late to change as I am on a return flight. No point to having a Platinum card now. Lufthansa is now going to be my choice for Europe.

This is a known website glitch. In fact, we have two other current threads on the go, so why not a third?

Not seeing anything about extra bag charges on the other threads. This must be the first not third.

I didn't pay for the seat but did pay the bag charge as it costs a lot more at the airport. Regarding exit row seats, FB Gold members lost the free status without warning, having to pay 50% of the cost.

Were exit row seats ever given for free to Flying Blue Gold customers?
Flying Blue Gold members never got Economy Comfort seats for free.
Here's the announcement from KLM of the introduction of Economy Comfort seating (http://www2.klm.com/travel/nl_en/about/news_press/travel_news/economycomfort.htm):
If you are a Platinum Flying Blue member, or if you travel on a fully flexible Economy ticket, you pay nothing extra for an Economy Comfort seat. Flying Blue Gold members and SkyTeam Elite Plus members of our partner airlines receive a 50% discount.

A shock to most FB Gold members

You shoudn't of paid and you wouldn't of be charged at the airport.
The website always mentions only the amount of booking allowed according to booking class and doesn't mention extra allowance due to status.

The website shows a drop down menu with number of bags and below the cost of a second bag which is usually £0 for FB Platinum but not today. The same goes for exit row seats.

I' sure if you'd turned up at the airport with it, you wouldn't be charged. How was the luggageallowance reflected in MMB? So not while selecting the number of bags at OLCI?

Yes, until about a year ago.
Flying Blue Gold members never got Economy Comfort seats for free.
Correct - which is apparently why KLM decided to start charging us for exit row seats as well last year, "for consistency".
On my regular NWI-AMS run emergency exit rows tend to be empty these days as all the Plats are in Business Class and very few people are willing to pay a tenner for a half-hour flight.
As for the OP - as others have said you were the victim of a glitch and you should be able to claim a refund. No need to throw toys out of prams ("I'll never fly this airline again") over a glitch!
I didn't pay for the seat but did pay the bag charge as it costs a lot more at the airport.
On the contrary. It would have been free if you wouldn'ty have paid and simply brought it to the airport. As said before, you have been facing a website glitch, not a new rule. I strongly suggest you call the customer service and ask your money back.
