Funny Fact: Same Flight by AB, Tuifly is $240 Cheaper!

Tuifly is part of Air Berlin actually (taken several years ago.).

Just randomly search the new route, one way ORD-BER, for example on May, 2013.

AB Price: $845.90 (also the price displayed on ITA software)

Tuifly: $604.18

A new way to buy cheaper AB tickets?

What's EVEN more interesting:

Tuifly book you into M, which earns 100% Miles.

AB only book you into N, which earns 25% Miles.

Tuifly is not part of airberlin. And I am not sure how a Tuifly marketed airberlin flight is mapped into the OW booking classes. The outcome might be a surprise.

TUI Fly and AB have some cooperation agreement. There are wetlease flights operated by TUI Fly and some Codeshares.

Be careful: Codeshares operated by TUI Fly (not the wetleases) do not earn miles in other programs than AB Topbonus!

All Tuifly intercity flights were taken by Air Berlin. I flied the ``true'' tuifly flight once from CGN-BER in 2006 or so. Nice service. Interesting is that on www.tuifly.com if you click "flight special", you could see some Lufthansa price, which, however, can't be booked at least on line. ONLY air berlin's long haul flights can be booked on www.tuifly.com.

No codeshare for this. Tuifly doesn't ''operate' anymore even from a codeshare perspective. My booking comes with AB flight # ONLY and also an AB confirmation #. I can pull out the information on www.airberlin.com with fare class M.

These flights were not taken but the routes were sold to airberlin. This does, however, not make tuifly anyhow a part of airberlin. Tuifly currently advertises that you can buy tickets from a bunch of airlines from there website.

This is true.... however, ONLY AB flights can be booked (at least online) for USA-DE...

If you book on Tuifly.com, your flight is booked into Air Berlin's old booking system. All Eco-fares are in M-class there. The amount of miles accrued depends on the ticket price. If you need to plan ahead with the miles you better call Air Berlin to ask how many miles you get with your ticket.
