Budget Travel - air tix from nyc to Dusseldorf

I am a newbie here and need some advice from some masters :)
Planning a trip in the middle of September and return in about three weeks.
United miles : close to 300,000
AA miles: close to 80,000
Where can I get the most competitive tix price?
Any way to update to Business?

use united.com for ua, aa.com for aa awards....for a business seat, use mi or buy a y ticket & use mi to upgrade,,,,

your best bet is to call each & if there is availability, pay the agent fee & get it done.....

I don't think the update with miles is available on my preferred date though.
It's getting more difficult since the merge of the United.
I am wondering whether I can get some promo code to get a lower economy first..,....

300k on UA? Try booking an EWR-DUS on LH F... I did ORD-DUS last month in F, it was pretty good.

80K AA miles can get you to DUS and back in Business Class, on a distance-based Explorer award. You would have to use two of AA's oneworld partners, like AB, plus AY, BA, and/or IB.
