United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Too Many Miles in my Account

Has anyone one else had this issue? After my last trip to PVG I was 26 miles short of Gold and now when I log-in to my account I have 57,241 PQM miles even though it should be 49,974. I have added all my miles in my statement and its adding up to 49K so I am not sure where the extra 7.5K came from.

What a delightful problem! Maybe the MP Angels decided to give you a bonus.

Yes its a nice gift but I am hoping they don't get taken away if it was a mistake.

Why are you stressing about this again?
Yes its a nice gift but I am hoping they don't get taken away if it was a mistake.
I remember waking up on the morning of 9/10/03 and found 250,000 miles I won in my account from the mastercard weekend promo! Turns out everyone won the 250,000 miles. 2 days later they were gone!
Hope your miles are a small gift from UA! ^

They might or might not be reconciled to reflect reality. Avoid counting them toward whatever level of status you're working toward so that you don't come up short if they are subtracted near the end of the year.

Were you IROP'ed and maybe stuffed into a Y fare class?

That would be so disappointing to think you won and see the miles in your account and then have them taken away.

My EWR-BWI flight got canceled because of weather but my international travel was pretty much issues free. On my flight over the video system did not work correctly and they gave me 10K miles. I just can't find where these "extra" miles came from. I am getting close to redeeming tickets again and I don’t want any issues if they decide to take these miles back out.
I assume you accounted for all PQM bonuses for B fares and higher? Do you have a PQM-earning credit card? Were you re-booked into Y class during any IRROPS?

Post a screenshot of your recent activity (delete the city pairs if you want).
That will show you if they posted the PVG-EWR twice, or if somehow they gave you 2x PQMs.

Yes I have accounted for all bonuses. I have 7386 more miles then I should in my account which is the exact same amount of miles that should have been earned on my PVG-EWR flight. It seems like the double credited that flight.

.... After my last trip to PVG I was 26 miles short of Gold and now when I log-in to my account I have 57,241 PQM miles even though it should be 49,974. ....what are the recent items in the account posting details?
When was the last time things agreed?

My guess is the website is messing up again. Because of your post I went to check our accounts - I found out my husband's account also has extra in the TOTAL amount shown - the extra is the exact amount as the last activity posted yesterday for activity from last week.
However when you go into the Account Details - the total there is correct. So the extra is a phantom addition in showing the total on the first screen.
I am afraid when the mistake in showing the total balance would be corrected, then UA would take away ACTUAL miles from the non-existing phantom number... :(

I am afraid the mistake would be corrected, and then take away more than it should, judging by the latest fiasco... :(
Thanks,
I figured if it was happening to other people there is a much better chance of them getting taken away.

The extra is a PHANTOM NUMBER - only the Total on the front screen is inflated - the actual account detail screen total is NOT.
I hope UA does not create bigger issue by taking away ACTUAL number when it tries to correct the tally of the Total on the front screen... The extra is NEVER included, nor reflected, in the Total Tally on the Detailed Account Activity Screen.
For those who are affected, and I am sure there are more than just 2 of us out there, we need to closely monitor our accounts now to make sure no screwy things happened in coming weeks... SIGH.

Did you notice that you finished on 7/1/12 with 13 segments but you started on 7/2/12 wit 14 segments? There is an additional segment they credited you with. It is not just the PQM.

The end 07/01/12 Balance was 34,292 & 12 segments
The beginning 07/02/12 Balance was 42,178 & 13 Segments
A delta of 7,886 and 1 segment
Note 7,886 is 500 (CEI-BKK)+7,386 (PVG-EWR) -- maybe coincidence, maybe double counting

5,000 PQMs for $35K Chase posted yesterday to my account as expected. This morning, yet another 5,000 PQMs posted. Chase RDMs from the same statement also appear to have doubled.
The "Beginning Balance as of 07/02/2012" appears to include this extra 5K. I'm betting they'll reverse this once they figure it out...

I woke up to find myself with some extra miles. Pushed me into Platinum
Same here, and it happened between last night and this morning. Double counted the last two flights I took (a few days ago-- international business on a partner airline). Premier miles are inflated, but award miles aren't.
I flew RIC-EWR-SFO-EWR-RIC this past weekend in T, upgraded into R.
PQMs posted as double, even though it does not show up in the activity detail. I should have received 6,130 PQMs but received 12,260.
RDMs are correct at 12,260 earned.

Looks like they fixed this "problem" and everything is back to where it was/ should be.
