Wyndham Rewards - Is Wyndham useless in Canada?

Trying to get a points credit for Travelodge Nanaimo BC. It was booked through WyndhanRewards and it can still be booked for future dates through the same website. Now I have an email from Wyndham advising that Travelodge Canada is not part of Wyndham Rewards and has their own loyalty program- therefore I get no Wyndham points. Isn't this just a little deceptive or just wrong?

I have observed some Super8s also turning into Canalta hotels (and becoming vastly superior and now very desirable) so I can only conclude Wyndham is close to dead in Canada.

This is correct... Travelodges in Canada have their own program called Travelodge Guest Rewards (http://www.travelodgeguestrewards.ca/home.asp). I'm pretty sure that you can get points at all other Wyndham properties in Canada (Ramada, Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Super 8 etc.)

So you can still book a Canadian Travelodge hotel through WyndhamRewards.com but cannot earn any Wyndham points from this because they are not in Wyndham Rewards - and the desk staff do not tell you this even though a Wyndham Rewards member number is on tbe reservation. This is very odd and very frustrating. Why bother with Wyndham when there are cheaper and equal quality hotels in most towns?

Travelodge Canada is not currently participating with Wyndham Rewards. They will be joining our program November 2012. Until this time, you are able to earn with Travelodge Guest Rewards.

In this case, perhaps the Wyndham Rewards website could explain that WR points are not earned on Travelodge bookings until November? I made a clear decision to stay at several Travelodge Canada hotels based on the understanding of receiving points. Not happy!
