I have never needed the guaranteed room availability until this week. Let me tell you how it went. I contacted priority club Platinum line and told them that there was no other hotels in the area available and that I would like to use this perk. This was on Saturday around 10am I did not need the room until Tuesday night. The agent I spoke with said she would contact the hotel for me and see what she could do, after she spoke with the hotel she told me it was sold out and that the manager was gone until Monday and she would have to override it to allow me a room. She told me to call back Monday, I asked if that would effect the 72 hours needed she told me it would not that it is in her system. I called back today Monday around 11am and was told by a different agent that there is no record of me calling but she would call the hotel when she returned she said that the hotel was sold out and would require the 72 hour notice. They have left me out in the cold again and I am finished as a Platinum with them.

Plat on holiday inn gets you about as far as silver does with Hilton... Even before 72 hours I have been told to screw off by plat agent...

Requires 72 hours advance notice. Platinum Elite members are guaranteed one guest room for personal use for reservations made at least 72 hours prior to the date of arrival, except during special events that result in extraordinary room demand, as determined solely by the hotel.

As is usually the case with IHG the "guarantee" is at the discretion of the hotel and is therefore worthless.

Agree. Worthless unless you want a suite.
