I was pleasantly surprised last Thursday to find an E63 at the Orlando Airport. I quickly switched from a ho hum midsize to the beast "Darth Vader".

Absolutely awesome vehicle! This is not your average E350. I had it for 3 days $400 per. IMHO it's the ultimate Uber sedan. The other cars on the road were a joke by comparison,
The strange thing is it does no show up on the Prestige collection. Maybe it's a secret or perhaps I was dreaming :)
I have to see if FLL has one!
I don't get the point of these AMG, M cars, especially to rent. Otherwise looks like the regular E class. I guess you have to be into driving like a madman to appreciate it.

Good for you to be the first on here to report driving the E63!
The car is showing up at a number of locations. Waiting for it here in DC ;)
We've been discussing the E63 in this thread (post #10 onwards) for a while http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz/1362338-porsche.html

NICE!
I wonder if I can upgrade my C class to this bad boy in SFO next weekend.
3 days $400 per day???
I would NEVER spend that type of money on a rental unless it was exotic. I've driven $80k+ MRSP SUV's very frequently and also drove the C63 and paying that type of money for a car like an E63 is absurd... But I say this probably because I can't afford to spend that type of money on a 3 day rental :p.
$100 a day on the other hand, perhaps...
at $400 per day you can almost rent exotics for day use!!!!
On a side note, probably the nicest car that Hertz has IMO :)

I totally agree with you, for $400 I can rent a super charged range rover, or Maserati Quattroporte both fully loaded.

Come on folks. Obviously this is not a mass market product. This vehicle is at the upper, upper end of the Prestige class with an MSRP of $105K it costs more than an S class.
I predict Hertz will make a tidy profit on the AMG cars and the Porsches.
I can't wait for the next drive!
Peace out!

Very cool. What do you do for a living where $1200 to use a car for 3-days is no big deal?
To most people it looks like the run of the mill $50k e-class, until you take off and hear the sound of apocalypse and the view out the windows blur like you are hitting warp speed. Stealthy, especially if you debadge. The cars defy physics. You can accelerate, turn and stop faster and in more comfort than you could ever imagine a big Mercedes could.
Love AMG.
I drive a ML63 AMG and I'm shocked sometimes at how fast it is, for a 5,200 lbs SUV. I feel that the SUV actually handles better than my SLK350 convertible and I can take it through turns at unbelievable speeds.
0-60 in 4.8 seconds 1/4 mile in ~13s. The E63 being almost 1,000 lighter should get ~4s / ~12s quarter mile.
You pay for that performance though. I read that the RWD AMGs eat a set of rear tires every 9k-10k miles at a cost of nearly $400 each. The AWD on the ML helps to spread that wear to the other tires. Brake rotors are also quite expensive from the dealer, but still nowhere near ceramic prices. I get 8 mpg if I'm having some fun, 13 mpg on my usual commute and up to 18 mpg highway driving like a granny.
$400/day is a lot of money. I would rather spend that money on an AMG driving academy session. US: http://amgacademy.com

Only MIA and PBI have the E63s and C63s. DCA regional manager told me Q3 or Q4 for the Mercedes AMGs. I suspect LAX may be within that timetable as well. If that's the case, between now and the end of the year.

So nice to have a decent choice of cars in the USA from Hertz.

Really hoping the C and E63 turn up at LAX/SFO in the next few months as I really want to rent both in Feb 2013
