Just flown back LA-Narita-Singapore on SQ11. On the way over to the US, the lounge ladies allowed myself, much better half and our two kids (2 and 4 and very well-behaved) into the lounge at Narita on the strength of my SQ *G card. Also has happened in Singapore before. But on the way back both Los Angeles and Narita did not allow it. I know the rule is one guest; do you think that there should be some leeway in this? LA was a generic Star Alliance lounge, Narita was ANA.

I have had similar experiences with my wife and 1 child.

The rule is +1 Guest. Basically, if they turn a blind eye and let a kid (or kids..) in with you then great but its a concession, not a privilege and its frustrating (especially when the promised shower for the missus doesn't materialise.!), but you have to accept they are playing squarely by the rules when they don't allow it.

Our work around was to sign my wife up for A3 where you used to be able to get *G for 18-20k miles (from memory) that then last a few years and thereby get her lounge access + 1 Guest in her own right. One SIN-US roundtrip would more or less get her the miles in one hit to achieve this... Just a thought.

Rules are one guest only. Airlines are usually more lenient with its own lounges, but not with partners. You got lucky at Narita the first time.;)

Thanks - that's what I thought. I'll sign her up for A3 and we should be able to avoid this in future. She did like her shower on the way over.:D
