InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - Intercontinental Toronto and Ambassador- Bad experience!

I upgraded to Ambassador for this trip, 3 days in Toronto and I had a few other trips coming up where I knew it would be handy.
I had booked a room with 2 twin beds as I was traveling with my daughter.
Upon arrival we check in and the person announces we had been upgraded to a suite but it wasn't ready yet so he was upgrading us to the club floor and he lists off all the benefits etc.
We get to the room and it has 1 king bed. I go to the Club lounge and explain the situation to the woman on duty there. Holy smokes the attitude! She tells me I have 3 choices, the original room, the suite and we can wait for it to be cleaned or a roll away bed. I ask here what type of bed the suite has and she says a king, and she doesn't even realize the problem! When I point out that because of the Ambasador status we should get a guaranteed room upgrade her attitude goes off the chart.
She gave us some sort of "deluxe" room but it looks like a regular 2 twin room to me, made a big deal out of "we can't access the club floor now" and basically wasted a ton of our time and made me really regret the whole Ambassador thing. I'm going to ask for refund as I certainly won't be using them any more

IME room upgrades don't happen if you want a room with 2 beds. Perhaps the roll-a-way bed is the way to go?

In the end you were upgraded from 2 DOUBLE BEDS SUPERIOR to 2 DOUBLE BEDS DELUXE, a one level upgrade. Both the suite and the club level is a two level upgrade. Ambassador status is a one level upgrade. The IC Toronto treated you very well.

Unfortunately the notation in the reservation requesting two beds...

If only I had known that running me all over the hotel, having a bad attitude and doing the absolute minimum required was treating me very well! I would have been far more appreciative :)
If they had just given me this room to begin with I would not have been posting, it's the part in the middle that has me annoyed.

I would assume it's usually difficult to upgrade when you only want 2 beds because those higher end rooms are always 1 king bed?

Why not try just sleeping with your daughter? :P
