National - What's the highest mileage vehicle from National that you ever drove?

I'll start , It was a Mazda 6 from YTZ with 26k km on it. The lowest was an Impala from YYZ with 300km (I try to avoid Impalas but that day it was the only car in the aisle).

For me it has been a FL drive out Edge SEL with 20k miles from MSP. Runner up was the BMW X5 from SAT with 16k miles.

I drove a C-class with 20 kmi. Still solid.

I remember a station manager that said vehicles are retired at 25k miles and denied me the Saab 9-3 I was eyeing.

I just scanned through my itineraries, and I've had a handful of cars with between 25k and 26k out the gate. All were Chevrolets (one Malibu, the rest Impalas).

However, I did manage to find one outlier -- a Murano picked up from SF Union Square in 2009 -- that had 32,245 miles on it when I picked it up!

To National's credit, I've rented many more cars with <500mi than with >20k. My record low is 2.

Hmm. There are similar threads in the Avis and especially Hertz forums, but apparently none here in the National forum? I thought we had one a while ago.

In any case, 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, picked up from Seattle Downtown with 20,047 mi, returned to Boston Logan with 23,286 mi. It was their only compact, I got a decent paid one-way cross country rate when I booked a year ago, and I'm not one to switch cars out unnecessarily, especially since Seattle Airport was out of my way.

16k for me. The rest of mine were under 10k and one had 200 at time of rental. Compare that to my last Hertz rental with 39k miles.

Highest for me is 24k for a LaCrosse in May from SFO. Over the last 2 yrs - mostly have been between 3k and 10k. Lowest was a 10 mi CTS wagon from PHL.

Most likely because, in most cases, we're able to select our car among several choices on the EA or ES. I know I've seen cars with ~20K miles on the aisle but I've quickly found something else with a lot less wear.

68K km on a Mexican VW Jetta, and before I had gone a mile I could tell every km had been hard. All the German precision had been beaten out of it.

The Emerald Aisle concept at ~60 U.S. + Canada airport locations does allow frequent renters to avoid the worst of the high mileage cars, as noted.

Highest was an Expedition with 17k in LAS.

Lowest was a Tiguan at my next visit to LAS that had 5 miles.

haven't seen this so much recently, but a few years ago (2009), I regularly saw (and rented) cars in the 30k+ range, including several avalons...

Wow, what a difference from Hertz where I've regularly gotten over 30K.
My lowest is 3 (MCO) and my highest 31K (ORD). Average in the low teens, it seems. I also don't go out of my way to select based on mileage.

Back in 2009 I got a first-generation Ford Fusion 4-cylinder (the old weak 2.3L) with about 61,000 km on it from YLW. But that is a franchise. Highest I've ever seen at a corporate store was a Mazda6 with about 42,000 km on it.

I remember at the tail of the recession in early 2010 YVR had some Volvo S40s in their Luxury section of the aisle with 40XXX km on the clock and they were 2008-09 models, so likely bought from the auction.

Just checked my records and the worst I've selected was a Dodge Nitro at MCO with 19,500 miles. That was very early in my National experience and I can proudly say I've come a long way since then. :D

I had an Impala with 39,000 km on it in June at YQR (franchise location). The lowest mileage car I've ever had was a Malibu with 7 km on it at YYT from Avis. That was pretty neat.

Whats that got to do with National?

--

Ive consistently had low mileage cars from National. There have been a few times Ive driven high mileage cars but that seems to be the case when I rent outside of the U.S./Canada where the standards of renting cars falls about 10 fold in other Western Countries and about 20 fold everywhere else.

I think the highest mileage car I had was an Infiniti G37 with about 17K miles on it.

Otherwise, I've been really happy with National; on average, most of my cars have less than a thousand and dozens have been brand new or nearly so.

Highest mileage in the US: 22,000 miles on a Maxima in Denver.

Highest Mileage in Canada: 58,000 KM on a Mazda 3 in YXT with snows on it.

Lowest mileage was a 2012 Toyota Avalon with 6 miles on it in ATL. They just delivered it.

95% of the time, I get cars in the 7-15,000 range.

Hyundai Genesis out of MCO in 12/2012 had 28k. The interior looked more like 60k+ though. It wasn't good.

In October 2012 I rented from National El Salvador. They gave me a 2007 Kia (foreign model, I don't recall the exact one) with numerous dings, dents, etc, check engine light on, and 87,000 km. At least it was inexpensive - only around $130 for the whole week if I recall.
