InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - YWG HI Downtown - bait and switch?
I have a rate that is stated as including breakfast. Upon check-in I am given a $20 breakfast voucher for 2 people for that included breakfast. The web booking and email conformation make no reference to a $20 limit (which is unlikely to cover even a modest breakfast for 2 people ).
Am I being unreasonable in expecting that "including breakfast" means just that - and not a limited voucher that only covers part of a breakfast?

The voucher sounds reasonable for 1 person, rather than 2. Sounds like the front desk erred.

That is the standard voucher issued by all Holiday Inns when booking the breakfast rate for 2 persons.

Front desk advised that one $20 voucher was given per booking. This would be given whether one or two people were in the room. I have already paid extra for two people in the room but get less breakfast. This is illogical.

In the case of the HI Winnipeg Downtown, the advanced purchase and best flexible rates that include breakfast are only $ 10.00 more per night and you received a $ 20.00 voucher.
The rate for the room is for either single or double occupancy. How is this a 'bait and switch' or illogical? You did not pay extra for 2 people.

The ("Shades of Summer") package says "complementary breakfast for two". It does not say "limited to $20 per room booking - and be aware that the two people in the room will not be able to get a reasonable breakfast without paying extra". This fits my understanding of bait and switch. If the package I bought says "complementary breakfast for two", am I being unreasonable in expecting that I will get breakfast without being asked to pay extra?
Issue resolved. Hotel provided breakfast as advertised. Food quality and service was very good. We only had a "continental" style breakfast and from observation of other tables, hot food options were generous and appealing. And even though we only had a continental style breakfast, keeping a bill for 2 under $20 would have been near impossible.
Perhaps HI should revisit the practicality of what they are selling on their web site and describing for their breakfast inclusions.
This hotel used to offer PC platinum members with free breakfast. Is this not done anymore at this property?
If they still give breakfast you should request the vouchers that are offered for platinum members.

It's been over a year since I last stayed here. Always got ten dollar breakfast vouchers as a plat that never quite covered the entire bill for one person. I was really more concerned if I would still have a car in the morning, lol.
I stayed there in late February this year and received a suite upgrade and a breakfast voucher for each day of my stay. On my departure morning, they allowed me to transfer the voucher to my colleague as I had to be at the airport for 5:00 am for an early departure.

Stayed here in late July 2012 with a friend using my Chase free night certificate. As a Platinum, no complimentary breakfast offered, but after enquiring again at check-in, we received a $10 voucher (not each, but for both of us) to the hotel restaurant.
In regards to the OP: I agree- $20 for two persons is definitely not right if they advertised complimentary breakfast for two!
