So I'm wondering about picking up a hard shell carry on case and have seen crew carrying what seemed to be this samsonite cabin collection case -
http://www.samsonite.co.uk/cabin-collection-upright-55cm-20inch-graphite/product-en.htm?or=1723944374&shs={def9824d-5ac3-4867-876d-10bec856a788}
I'm keen on a hard shell because I've been burnt by trying to overpack and see fabric or even less sturdy hard shells expand to be too big for smaller aircraft.
Can't find these mentioned anywhere on flyer talk so I'm wondering if they are terrible or something? Suggestions?

Man, nice find! I like those. It's the classic Sammy Oyster as a cabin case. Cool. Nothing to say against it except that the wheels aren't protected.
That pink color is really something. Be a man and try that out! :D

I have used one version or another of the Samsonite Oysters hard-shell since 1987. The offer IMHO best protection of content for their price-point.
But I also found that IME Samsonite are very country specific with their product offerings.
EG:
F'lite II spinner are no longer available from Samsonite in US but still in Canada.
OP's carry-on oyster hardshell (I have been looking for something like that to replace my Pelican 1514) in US or Canada.
PINK?
The less desirable for theft the better.

Just to report back on this, I've had the bag for a year and like it! Great features, sturdy, though the plastic takes some tears, there's no cracking yet!

What about the exposed wheels? How have they been holding up?

A year? Did I miss something or did you post asking for opinions about whether to get it a few months ago?
