In two weeks time, I've a flight from to DXB upcoming, to be specific LX242 from ZRH and arriving at Dubai at 20:50. Normally my long haul flights take me to Asia or North America, so two quick questions regarding DXB:

1.) What about the immigration queues at DXB at this time of day? And if there is a fast-track available, does LX provide cards for this?

2.) On the way back, I'm flying in on CX from HGK and AFAIK CX and LX do have an interline agreement in place. So I should be able to check my luggage through and use transit in DXB. Does anybody know when the transfer desks for LX open? Or maybe I could use web checkin and print the boarding pass before leaving Hong Kong...

Any thoughts would be much appreciated! ;)

I've taken this flight a couple of times, not sure about your second question, but immigration at that time is pretty brutal, theres many flights coming in from Europe at the time. LX provides an escort through immigration to F class and HON, Hon gets met at the jet bridge, for F class you have to walk through the terminal and ask Mahraba service right before immigration. If your not flying F I would consider booking the marhaba service right online from their website...its about 27$ and they'll escort you through immigration, well worth it in my opinion..hope that helped!

Many thanks tninos for the information! ^ Well, in C this time and only SEN not HON, so the advice regarding Mahraba service is great. Have heared of it before, but didn't cross my mind when posting...Thanks!

Just one follow-up question, I did have a look at their website (http://www.marhabaservices.com/index.aspx) and they offer a bronze and a silver "meet & greet" service, and only the silver level mentions that they'll take me through 'expedited lines at immigration.' However, I think I saw somewhere on this forum that the standard level, too, got you through the lines quickly; your post affirms this too? Don't want to spring for the more expensive service if not necessary. Is the main difference just being met at the airbridge vs. having to walk to the arrival desk before immigration?

Hey Frequent_Flyer1, The only difference is the point of pickup...the silver meets you at the jet-bridge and walks with you, the bronze you must walk out and present yourself to them right before immigration (quite a long walk might I add) In any case not worth the extra $ for a walking companion...the bronze is also what LX books for F class, they'll get you through immigration through they're dedicated "vip" line, haven't waited more than 5-10 minutes in my experience with Marhaba...

Once again, tninos, your answer and insight is much appreciated! So the bronze version it is! :)

No problem Frequent_Flyer1, i've been going back and forth to DXB for work for a while so if you need some tips feel free to send me a PM, also another note, keep in mind in DXB you pass immigration on the outbound as well before security, LX,LH, and OS are all leaving around the same time so the line builds up rather quickly so make sure to give yourself some time (theres usually only 2 or 3 immigration agents working) I've used Marhaba on the outbound as well but its a hassle to say the least.

If you travel to Dubai frequently AND your nationality is supported I would definitely apply for a e-gate pass. You can do that right before immigration.

Last night it took me 10 minutes from the plane to the taxi - with regular passport control it would easily have been 30-45 minutes more.

Enjoy the heat in Dubai ;)

FrequentFlyer did you manage to interline your luggage ex HKG with CX - LX? Did it work ok?

Same Q for me !!
