Hi,

I presume there us no way round having this priced in A$ and then converted to NZ$. This leg seems to be carrying a premium compared with booking it round trip from NZ.

(using Airpoints)

It converts the price to NZD if you book ADL-AKL on .co.nz.

True. However, as I understand it, the OP is seeing more expensive fares ex AU than those ex NZ. Sadly this is how NZ price their regular fares on the tasman ... commercially they think they can get a higher effective fare from the Aussies than the Kiwi's!!!

I have been looking into London return in the next 2 months, Air NZ are offering cheap bus and PE to NZ coming into our spring/summer?

I am looking at buying a oneway fare from NZ and then buy my return ticket on the UK site for the return journey, will save a lot! (British passport)

Why is this so  Down to numbers/volume of traffic?

Differing markets have different levels of demand and competition. And antipodean airlines bank on "loyalty" of many antipodean denizens - some may say "misguided loyalty".
