Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Place your bets on Marriott's Next BIG Announcement

First, we had the BIG Marriott announcement on the new and revamped website that its Rewards members had been asking for. You remember, the improved and enhanced, but totally useless, website that gave us the floating boxes, removed the ability to view more than one reservation at a time, removed lifetime points and nights info, provided half the information of the old website, and gave us the very forgettable "Trip Inspiration" section.

Second, we had the BIG Marriott announcement of the "new" ability to make reservations using Cash & Points. That announcement, accompanied by the usual Marriott bluster, of, "we heard what you've been asking for and here it is..." rolled out with much fanfare, providing us with a "benefit" that we've had for years.

If Marriott is really listening, why haven't we heard any news, other than empty promises, about BOGO which was hastily pulled over a year ago?

Anyway, here's my bet on Marriott's next BIG announcement:

We’ve heard Marriott Rewards members asking for it, and now here it is: Beginning next month, Marriott will provide hair dryers in every room. Just think about it, never having to leave your hotel with wet or damp hair. Who says Marriott doesn't pay close attention to the requests of its most loyal and valuable customers?

Happy Travels,

Maybe BOGOHO, Buy one get one half off will replace BOGO. Of course the most expensive night will be the full price night. Also it will exclude all FS Marriott properties. Just my 2cents.

I'd like to take bets on the huge benefit reduction FT members make up and then get all fired up about in advance of the announcement, that turns out to be nothing of the sort.

e.g. They're taking away lounge access for Gold!! (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marriott-rewards/1372902-marriott-fb-post-august-1-2012-a.html) Uh, no they're not.

Well we don't know that yet, do we? The person who mentioned it said it was going into effect March 1, 2013. ;) :p :D

I'd be happy if Marriott actually followed up their pre-announcements w/ announcements not too soon afterwards - aka, cash+points. BTW - they closed my thread on Insiders re: it.

Cheers.

Coming Soon: Marriott Reservations with Cash + Credit

Credit cards almost maxed out? This new program from Marriott allows you at reservation time to specify that you will pay just part of your room bill on a credit card and the rest on cash.

not really...........actually the new program will allow you to make a single reservation combining one night full cash and the other night as a point redemptionwhich all members could already been doing for years by making 2 seperate reservations.............. all this supposedly wonderful program will do is allow you to combine them as 1 res (ie. big deal!)..............

".... a new way to book a stay that lets you combine redemption nights and cash nights within a single reservation of two nights or more. "

No, it's even more enhanced:

It'll be the first BOPO certficate in the industry. It'll allow you to buy one night, then pay for the other.

Boy oh boy, customers have been clamoring for that! And maybe, just maybe, we will be able to reserve both BOPO nights under a single reservation.

No surprise that the apologists for Marriott's lies and exaggerations seem to come out of the woodwork on threads like this...

Huh. Did you actually read the thread? I've been reading the posts to be totally tongue-in-cheek/having fun/coming up w/ silly promos. They're obviously not serious & are just joking around.

Cheers.

Wait for it--drums roll--you heard it here first.....

Marriott will hold off on its next systemwide devaluation until 2014.
