I'm looking at flying LACSA/TACA SFO-SAL-SJO
(Too bad there weren't any SJC-SJO ;) )
I have two options: one with a connection of 37 minutes, and the other with a connection of 7 hours. The first sounds short, and the second sounds really long. Is 37 minutes doable? I'm guessing since a lot of the flights end up this way, they must pad their schedules a bit and it must be a pretty small and easy to get around airport.
Should I worry about the 37 minute connection? Have any FTers done this before?

Connecting in SAL means leaving the plane and walking sometimes as little as 10 yards to the next one. The maximum walk might be 5 minutes from one end to the other. No security, no customs, only bag check to USA flights. So on your flight no checks at all.
I never check luggage but I doubt they'd have a problem with that.
TACA is amazingly punctual due to their budgeting 5 hours for 4 hour and 15 minute flights. I have never come close to missing a connection and I used to book in J (4hour connection) then walk over to and switch to Y on their propeller plane since my inbound was always early and the small plane left almost immediately vs. 4 hours later.

Very cool. Does a 30-minute layover also work for the return back to the US?
